This server is made by a player who was tired of boring servers with mean people so they made their own place. It is an origins style SMP where you get special powers and play in a chill survival world.
The server has simple plugins that feel like normal Minecraft. You get sethome and tpa and warps and a spawn so getting around is easy. There is a basic land claim plugin so you can protect your base from random players.
One of the coolest parts is proximity voice chat using the Simple Voicechat mod. You can actually talk to people when you get close to them in game. It makes building and exploring with others feel way more real.
The whole point of the server is to build stuff with friends make new friends fight a bit with pvp and grind the game together. The owner really wants a kind and friendly community where people can hang out and have fun.
It supports both Bedrock and Java so more people can join and play together.

This server feels like the old school Minecraft I remember. It is a simple survival SMP with no crazy extras. You just join and play the game like normal and it feels super clean.
The whole idea is to be pure and classic. There are no weird gimmicks and no overcomplicated plugins. It is all about surviving building and exploring with other people.
The community seems friendly and focused on working together. People like to create stuff hang out and just enjoy the game. If you like playing with others but do not want a messy server this feels really good.
There is optional proximity chat too. So if you want more immersion you can talk to players who are near you in game. If you do not like that you can just ignore it and still play fine.
If you want a basic survival world with a chill group this server fits that vibe a lot.

This server is called Bone Voyage and it feels like a chill pirate themed SMP that really cares about its community.
Right now they are celebrating Christmas with gifts and cheer and they even did a Santa scavenger hunt. It sounds like they like to run fun events and keep players busy.
The server promises at least a full year of uptime and they already plan to stay around even longer. It has a nostalgic survival style with custom configurations and plugins but it still feels like normal Minecraft.
They also have an improved skyblock mode that is linked to your progression which sounds different from normal skyblock. There are frequent content updates and community events so things do not get boring.

MyntonSMP is a simple full vanilla server that feels really chill. It is not full of crazy plugins or weird addons. You just play normal Minecraft survival with other people.
The community is pretty welcoming. It feels like they want actual real players who talk and hang out. Since it is whitelist only you do not get a ton of random trolls.
If you want a basic vanilla world and people to survive with this server is all about that.

I found this server called PurpleSMP and it feels super chill. It is a PvE world so you can just relax and not worry about getting hunted all the time. The idea is to hop on build something cool and hang out with the community.
The server uses an in depth skill system with McMMO so as you play your skills level up and it makes normal Minecraft stuff feel more fun. They also use GriefPrevention so you can claim your land and protect your builds from getting wrecked.
There is a Brewery plugin where you can brew distill and age different drinks. It sounds like there are a bunch of recipes to figure out so that gives you something to mess with when you are bored.
You get access to vaults so you do not have to carry everything on you after a big mining trip. That makes storing your loot a lot easier. The server also has crossplay so you can join from different devices like console or phone.
To play you have to be in their discord so the community stays connected and people can talk and meet each other. Overall it feels like a relaxed SMP where you just build up your place and enjoy a peaceful world with other players.
