United Crafters SMP is starting Season 7 and it looks like a really chill place to play.

Emberline SMP is a small survival world that only wants around 20 players total. The owner is just tired of giant servers with tons of people or worlds that never even start.
The server is pretty much vanilla. It only has proximity voice chat one player sleep and player head drops. That is it. No crazy plugins or confusing stuff.
You join the discord and submit an application and once there are 20 people the server starts. Those 20 are the whole community so it should feel tighter and less chaotic.

Ordinary SMP is a vanilla Java server that feels like a small friendly neighborhood. It is whitelisted so people who join actually want to play and not just ruin stuff.

This is a Minecraft SMP that is mostly vanilla and feels really cozy and safe. A lot of the players are LGBTQ plus and they really try to be welcoming and inclusive to everyone.
The server is for mature players who are 18 plus and you have to be respectful to other people. It feels like a trust based world where people actually care about the community.

PurpleSMP is a small survival server that feels really relaxed and safe. It runs on the latest versions of Minecraft and is meant for people who just want to build and chill without dealing with jerks.
This server is focused on PvE so fighting other players is off by default. If you really want PvP you can toggle it on for yourself. Land claims protect your builds and every block placed or broken gets logged so griefing can be fixed.

Foggy Willows is a server that is trying really hard to be real vanilla. It runs on the regular minecraft server jar with no plugins and no datapacks. It feels like playing singleplayer but with other people running around.
You do not get teleport or sethome. There is no world border and no fancy spawn with a bunch of signs to read. You just join and start playing. The server is in hard mode so mobs hit pretty hard.
The owner expects players to handle their own social stuff. There are no extra rules written out here besides playing fair and dealing with problems like normal people. You can build what you want and play how you want.

I found this modded server called Iperios and it is all about making nations. You can start your own nation and decide your own government and laws and ranks. If you do not want to make a nation you can just join one that already exists.
The server runs the Allthemods10 modpack with version 5.4 so you need that to play. You have to get whitelisted first and then you get the server info and some starter details.
When you join a staff member helps you at the start. They guide you and give you a beginner kit so you are not lost. After that you are free to play and build your nation or join others and see how their rules work.
