This is a small survival server that feels like a real group of friends instead of a giant random lobby. There are usually around ten people and everyone kind of knows each other so you do not feel like just a number.
The whole server is about community. At spawn there is a chest area where you can take what you need and leave extra stuff so new players can get started easier. People like to hang out build and talk.
The staff run weekly events that sound pretty fun like elytra races and a custom Honey Heist where everyone gets in voice chat and plays together. It feels more like a little event night than some grindy competition.
They also added some custom coded features. Instead of normal crates they have key forging so you combine keys to try to upgrade them. There is a player based economy where you can sell your farm items and run a shop.
There is no pay to win. You can get everything just by playing even ranks and keys so it feels fair and not like you have to spend money to keep up.
The server supports crossplay so Java and Bedrock players on different devices can all join and play together. It is good if your friends are on console or mobile but you are on PC.

So I found this server called CollideCraft Time Zero and it feels like you crash into some broken dimension. The world is not calm at all and everything feels kind of wrong. Space is tight and resources are not easy to get so you actually have to fight and think to survive.
It is a semi vanilla SMP with some light lore so there is a story vibe but it is still Minecraft survival. There is lifesteal so killing people actually matters and makes things way more intense. There are factions so people group up and make alliances and you never really know who you can trust.
The server also uses prox chat so you can hear people when they get close and that makes sneaking and teaming way more fun. There are frequent events too so it is not just grinding all the time. Players also get to choose plugins so the community helps shape how the server feels.
It just launched and it works for both Java and Bedrock together so more people can join in. Survival here feels earned not given and it really fits if you like a tough world with drama and hidden stuff under the surface.

HermitiaSMP is a small survival server that feels like a tight group of friends. It is inspired by Hermitcraft and it plays like a vanilla plus world with some extra features.
The server runs weekly events that keep things from getting boring. These can be in game events or real life stuff or even art competitions. There is also a special Christmas island event right now so the whole place feels super festive.
Players can use optional proximity voice chat to talk in game if they want. There are event houses and community builds where you join a house and earn points for it.
