Invictus SMP is a survival server that has been running since 2020 and it is already on season 11 so it feels pretty established but still fresh.
The server is semi vanilla with hard mode and mobs that level up so it is more challenging than normal but still feels like Minecraft and not some crazy mod pack. There are custom plugins but they are focused on gameplay and not a bunch of random stuff. There are also vanilla tweak style changes that just make things nicer to play.
The world has a border that expands over time and the whole world gets reset each season after around six to eight months. That means everyone gets a fresh start pretty often so you do not feel super behind if you join later.
There is a live web map and player stats so you can watch the world grow and see how people are doing. The server also has things like brewery and fishing competitions plus community events so it is not just everyone off on their own.
The community is meant to be chill and friendly and they want players who are over 18 or at least act mature. You are expected to follow the rules and not use hacks x ray baritone exploits or anything like that. If you just want to relax play survival and be part of an active SMP this server feels like it fits that vibe really well.

Sunset Retreat SMP is a vanilla plus server that feels really calm and cozy. It is made for players who are 18 or older and it is whitelisted so it stays mature and chill. The server is based in the EU and it runs in seasons so everyone can start fresh together.
The gameplay is mostly vanilla but with a few quality of life additions. There is voice chat so people can talk easily. There are mob and player heads and a map you can use to see the world. Bedrock players can also join so more friends can play together.
The server uses a diamond economy. Players make shops and trade items and services with each other so the world slowly turns into a cool shopping district. It makes survival feel more like a little town where everyone helps each other.
The owners are active and they actually play on the server. They focus on keeping the server updated and managed so it feels safe and relaxed. The community is welcoming and inclusive so it is a nice place to meet new people and escape real life stress for a while.

Vanillacraft is a semi vanilla SMP that feels really simple and chill. It is made for people who are tired of huge servers with tons of plugins that change everything.
Here you do normal survival with other players and the world is not full of pay to win stuff. There is no economy plugin and no GUI shop. Instead players make their own shops and run the whole item economy by themselves.
There is no land protection plugin so you can build where you want. Griefing is watched by an active staff team and they use Coreprotect so your builds are not just left alone with no help.
The server just started a new season after a world reset so everyone can start fresh together. There is a community spawn with farms and useful stuff and there is a market area where players set up shops for anything you need.
You cannot just teleport around. People travel with the nether roof or with elytras so the world feels more like real survival. There are no pay to win ranks and there is not even a server store so progress is just from playing.
The playerbase is described as very friendly and welcoming. It is active but not so huge that you never see the same person twice. You will log in and recognize people and it feels like a real community.

Vanillacraft is a semi vanilla SMP that tries to feel like normal Minecraft but with people. It does not use a bunch of crazy plugins that change the game. There is no economy plugin and no GUI shops and no land claims. The staff use Coreprotect so griefing can be fixed and griefers can be dealt with.
The server just had a world reset after about six months. So everyone is starting over again at the same time. This makes it a good moment to join if you like an even start with other players.
Most of the trading here is done with player shops and a player run item economy. There is a market district where people build shops for pretty much anything. There is also a shared community spawn with farms and helpful stuff that players can use.
There are no teleport commands and no pay to win ranks. The server does not even have a store. If you want to travel you use the nether roof or fly with an elytra once you get one. The community is described as really friendly and welcoming and many of the same players log in a lot so you start to recognize everyone.

SwiftServers is a Minecraft hosting platform that is actually free and still runs smooth.
From what I saw they use strong hardware like AMD EPYC Rome and NVMe SSD so the servers feel fast and not super laggy.
You can make different types of servers like Vanilla Paper or Spigot and it only takes a short time to get started.
They have their own custom control panel that is built from scratch so it looks modern and is easy to understand even if you are not a pro.
There is DDoS protection to keep your world safe and they also have a backup system so you can create and restore backups quickly.
You get 1 GB RAM 10 GB SSD and a 1 Gbit connection and they do not limit how many players can join.
There is no credit card needed and no hidden fees so you can just make a server and play with your friends.
