This is a server called Syracuse Nation and it feels pretty chill. It is a survival server but it also has a separate creative world so you can build crazy stuff without worrying about dying.
There is a player economy with shops and an expanding city. You can explore around and there are vehicles to mess with so it feels more like a big world instead of just a spawn. There is a bank to store your valuables so it feels a bit more like a real city.
The server runs on Java 1.21.11 and it has cross play so people on Xbox and PlayStation can join too by using BedrockConnect. There is a hub that lets you move between the city the creative world and the survival world.
They have quests and they are adding more all the time. There is random TPA and even your mount teleports with you which is actually really useful. The server also has proximity chat so talking to people near you feels more real.
The community is friendly and they say it is not pay to win. There are active staff and a discord and the whole server is in active development so new features buildings and systems are getting added. Early players can help shape how the world and community will turn out.

This is a semi vanilla SMP where players focus on survival and building and just hanging out together. It feels pretty relaxed and it is all about community economy and creativity.
The server uses diamonds as the main money so people trade and shop using the items they mine. There are player shops and a shops menu so you can browse or make your own store which makes the world feel like a real marketplace.
You can claim land with a golden shovel so your builds are safe. The server is PvE and there is no griefing allowed. There is also no keep inventory so survival feels more real and you have to be careful.
There is a live world map you can look at in your browser and there are separate resource worlds so the main world stays clean and nice for building. You can just go to the resource worlds to mine and gather stuff.
There are ranks and vote rewards that you earn just by playing and voting so you get perks over time. The community is friendly and there are weekly events so people have things to do together like building and exploring and just hanging out on the server.
Both Java and Bedrock players can join so everyone can play together no matter what platform they are on.

I found this modded server called Iperios and it is all about starting or joining nations. You can make your own government and your own laws and ranks. Or you can just join a nation that is already made if you do not feel like leading.
The server runs the Allthemods10 modpack on version 5.4 so you have to use that version. You also have to get whitelisted before you join. They explain how to join and give starter info in their new players info place.
When you first log in a staff member helps you out. They guide you and give you a beginner kit so you are not lost. After that you can go join a nation or build your own and start playing how you like.
The whole thing feels like a modded world where players control the politics and the rules. It looks good if you like nations and roleplay mixed with normal survival and a staff team that helps new people.

Farmlands SMP is a cozy survival server that feels calm and relaxed. It is whitelisted so people join because they actually want to play for a long time and take their time.

This server is called 1fighter2defenders or 1f2d and it is a real anarchy survival world. There are no rules and the map never resets.
The server has been online since 2021 so the world is over 4 years old. A lot of people have joined at least once so there is a big history behind the map.
You can grief build or cheat and everything is allowed. It is not a safe place and you have to be ready for anything.
The main version is 1.21 and you can also join on versions from 1.17 up to 1.21.11. If you want a raw survival experience with no limits this is that kind of server.
