Rattata SMP is a simple vanilla style server that feels really chill. It is made for players who are 18 or older and the community wants to stay mature and relaxed.
The server runs on hard difficulty and there is no tp at all. Loot tables are not changed and the world generation is normal so it feels like regular survival. It also has a live map and only 33 percent of players need to sleep to skip the night.
The rules are super basic. Pretty much do not grief and use common sense. Because of that people are encouraged to build together and make a community instead of messing up each others stuff.
There is a whitelist so you have to apply first. There is also a simple voice mod you can use if you want but it is not required. The server is still pretty new since it launched on December 26 so you can join in early and grow with everyone else.

This is a modded Java SMP called WesterCraft and it is based on Game of Thrones. The whole server is about a broken realm that is trying to rebuild after big wars.
Players join different houses and try to gain power. You can earn influence stability and royal favor or lose everything to plots and fights. It feels like you pick if you want to be a king a schemer or a conqueror.
The world is a hand made map of Westeros. There are places like the cold North the rough Riverlands and the hot lands of Dorne. The map feels shaped by battles and you explore to find lands to claim.
They are looking for builders who want to make castles and cities. They also want lore writers who like to write stories history and events. They need moderators and event staff to help run the roleplay and keep everything under control.
The server is whitelist only so they want quality players and a focused community. It sounds like a serious roleplay place where people care about story and politics more than rushing to endgame.

This is a server called BruhMemeSMP and it is almost totally vanilla. It just has a few basic plugins like TPA and RTP so it still feels like normal Minecraft but with a little more convenience.
The server is not anarchy and it is meant to be calm and friendly. PvP is turned off so you do not have to worry about random people trying to kill you. If PvP ever gets turned on you can only fight if both players agree.
Griefing and stealing are not allowed at all. If someone gets caught breaking builds or taking stuff they get permanently banned with almost no chance to come back. So you can build your base and not be scared it will get ruined.
From what I can tell this server is for players who like the vanilla vibe and do not want a bunch of crazy mods. It is more about chill survival and community instead of chaos. New players are welcome to join and become part of the group.

Tinkers Tavern is an 18 plus Minecraft community that has been around for a couple years. It is meant for adults who just want low stress gaming and like survival games. It feels chill and still has room for players who like to sweat a bit.
They run a Vanilla plus SMP that keeps the normal Minecraft feel but adds some quality of life stuff like voice chat and chunk claiming. You can join with a normal Minecraft client so you do not have to mess with mods if you do not want to.
There are also several modded servers. They have Vault Hunters for roguelike dungeon crawling with RPG style progression. They run Wolds Vaults too for more vault hunting. There is a Cobblemon server that is on season 3 and still going. They even host a HermitCraft season 10 world download you can explore and an FTB Stoneblock 4 server.
The servers are privately hosted in the US East. The most active time is US time zones but people play from all over so there is usually someone online.

This server is called RefinedVanilla and it is a true vanilla anarchy world. There are basically no rules except you cannot use hacked clients. You can build destroy explore and experiment however you want and everything feels like normal Minecraft.
The owner uses Fabric so the game keeps real vanilla mechanics. Redstone tnt pistons and tick timings work just like singleplayer. That makes it really good for technical players who care about farms and machines being accurate.
The server changes stuff like simulation distance mobcaps and render distance while you play so it runs smooth even when more players join.
There are a few gameplay details too. The nether roof is enabled. Chunk trailing is patched. Portal chunkloaders still work but they unload when no players are near in either dimension.
