This server is all about fantasy roleplay and it feels really focused on story.
Everyone starts out as a maid or a butler working in big rich style houses and estates. You begin at the very bottom so you are basically a servant at first. You are supposed to roleplay your way through the world and not just grind stuff. Your character has to grow slowly over time.
You can write your own lore and build a unique character. The server world is driven by what players do. When you talk to people and make choices it actually matters in the story. You can earn influence and climb higher in society if you really stick with the roleplay.
The whole server feels like a slow burn story where you earn every step of your progress. It is for people who like deep roleplay and a calm pace instead of rushing through everything.

New Dawn SMP is a long term vanilla survival server that feels really chill but also serious about builds. The world is planned to last around 8 to 12 months so you actually get time to finish a megabase or a full town.
The server runs Java 1.21.11 and it is whitelisted so people who join usually want to play for real and not just troll. It uses a diamond based economy so players can build shops and different districts for games and minigames.
There are a few small plugins and datapacks like Vanilla Tweaks and Timber plus Armor Poser so it still feels like normal Minecraft but a little smoother to play. There are survival minigames Minecraft events and even some game nights that are not in Minecraft.

Halcyon is a lands PvP server that tries to feel like an old school medieval world. It runs on a handmade custom map and aims for a tough survival style where progression is slow and careful.
The server is based in Australia but there are players from Europe the Americas and Asia. There are usually between 10 and 30 people online so the world feels active without being too crowded.
Travel is a huge part of the game. There is no teleportation so players ride and walk everywhere and that has made roads waystations and secret underground rail lines really important. Biomes are large and very different and some crops and saplings only grow in certain places so trading between regions actually matters.
The gameplay rules are made to cut down on meta play and automation and reward teamwork and creativity. Success comes from building strong towns and castles making smart trade deals and working with other players instead of just grinding exploits.
There is no strict server lore you have to follow. You just join pick a direction punch some trees and start building a story with the people you meet. Because of this a lot of player made art books myths and funny superstitions are already showing up and the world feels like it is writing itself.

BumCraft Reborn is a small modded SMP that is trying to grow into a real community. It runs on a custom modpack that feels like a big kitchen sink but it leans a lot into fantasy stuff. It is mostly PVE and meant for people who like to chill and survive together.
The server uses a very light roleplay style with different status ranks. There are Barons and Baronesses who control big chunks of land. There are Town Leaders who are like mayors. There are Honored Villagers who are trusted players with homes. There are Ratlings who wander around or live in the dark. And there is The Lowest which is a rank you probably do not want.
The rules are pretty simple. Do not be a jerk. Keep the chat clean. People can joke around but no super wild or super weird stuff. It is meant to feel laid back but not toxic.
Right now the server is still small with around fifteen members. The owner is hoping to reach about twenty to thirty regular players and maybe more after that. There are also fun channels for talking in Spanish or posting memes or animal pictures or other games.
If you want a fantasy style modded SMP with light roleplay and a small growing community this server feels like a good place to start.
