The Overworld is open right away then the Nether unlocks after a set time and the End unlocks later too. They keep fights more grounded since netherite armor is disabled and End Crystals are not allowed and Respawn Anchors are not allowed. Diamond gear stays the main endgame tier.
PvP is expected and you can make temporary alliances but it sounds like solo players are the ones who really win. Hacked clients and exploit abuse are not allowed and you still have to follow basic conduct rules.
