Worldbound SMP is a geopolitical survival server where the world is still pretty empty and the first nations are starting to pop up.
Players make nations and build cities with capitals and borders. People team up with alliances and do diplomacy then sometimes it turns into wars that change the map.

People form alliances then turn on each other. There are wars and raids and you have to think ahead if you want to keep your base safe.
The vibe is no hand holding. You build your base you defend your land and you try to crush anyone coming for you. If you like nonstop conflict and high pressure survival this is that kind of SMP.
I found a Java SMP called Stoner SMP and it is made to be chill.
It says it is online 24 7 so you can hop on whenever.
It also says never pay so it feels like you just join and play without spending money.
I found a newer Minecraft Java SMP that is focused on semi vanilla survival on hard. The world has been running for about three weeks so it still feels pretty fresh.
It is for adults only 18+ and they want active long term players. Achievements are enabled and one player sleep is turned on.
The rules are simple. No griefing and no stealing and no cheating. PvP is only allowed if both players agree.
I found a Minecraft Java realm that is looking for about 10 people to join before it starts.
