What if every Minecraft world was a part of one big world?

What if other people are out there on their own journey, and our paths might cross?

Waychest is a custom-built Minecraft experience that extends vanilla survival mode with an emphasis on exploration and building. It is a hybrid of a public multiplayer server and a private Realm. You (and friends) start your Journey on what appears to be a server all to yourself.

But as you explore, you will discover that you are not alone: custom items and blocks will guide you across the world to find what the people who came before you left behind. If you’re lucky, you might even run into your cohabitants in person.

Feature Highlights: (Nearly every non-vanilla mechanic was designed and built specifically for this server)

  • 🌍 “Journey” System: You and anyone you choose are placed into your own “server”, called a Journey, with a random spawn point in one shared survival world. You can even create multiple Journeys — each Journey has its own spawn point, progression through the game, and set of partners sharing the Journey.
  • 🎁 Waychests: Special chests that act as beacons, reaching across the world to guide Journeys to find each other, and rewarding everyone who seeks them out. Later, craft and place your own Waychests to guide the next Journey to your builds!
  • 🚀 “Waychest Flight” Minigame: Find ingredients to craft an Elytra that starts an in-world flying minigame. The minigame challenges you to pass through a series of rings, ultimately leading to a Waychest built by a stranger.
  • 💨 Discovery-based Warps: Fast travel between certain blocks — but you have to find a warp point to unlock it first.
  • 🔐 Integrated Region Protection: Waychests that you place create an expandable area of protection for certain blocks and containers.
  • ☀️ “Radiance”: Skip the night without skipping the night. Since the world is shared, sleeping instead gives a “Radiance” effect that prevents nearby surface mob spawns for the rest of the night.
  • 🗺️ Region Maps: Loot maps that generate pre-explored with the surrounding region. Build a map wall without the tedium!
  • 🏆 Custom Advancements: Every custom mechanic has an associated advancement. Learn how to progress even if you don’t like reading a Wiki.
  • 💸 No Monetization: There are no premium perks, donator tiers, or money accepted in any form.

    I found an SMP that is all about world building made by the players. People can build towns and turn them into nations and the map is shaped by whatever everyone decides to do.

    You can PvP if you want and there is lots of room for drama with alliances and betrayals. The vibe is controlled chaos with no scripts so the stories come from real players.

    They want more active players especially from the Asia region but anyone can join. It is meant to be long term with years of development and story telling and they also say there will be no resets.

    The admins and the community seem really nice. The owner is also proud of the anticheat so it feels protected from weird stuff.

    Foggy Willows is a server for people who want real vanilla survival. It runs on the normal minecraft-server.jar with no plugins and no datapacks.

    The spawn is simple and not packed with a bunch of stuff to read. You just join and play how you want and build what you want.

    It is hard mode and there is no tp and no sethome. There is no world border and the server stays on the latest stable vanilla jar.

    It is self hosted on a purpose built machine and it does not take donations. Players are expected to handle their own social issues so it feels more wild and honest. Java players can join and there is a Discord too.

    Dinguses United is a Bedrock Realm that has been running for years and it is made for people who want a world that actually lasts.

    It is mostly for dedicated builders and long term projects. The community is chill and respectful and there are community districts plus collaborative builds so you can team up with others.

    The realm avoids constant resets and it is not a chaotic place. Moderation is kept light but it still protects builds and stops power trip stuff.

    It is survival with some quality of life add ons and an End overhaul for deeper late game progression. The textures stay vanilla so it still feels like regular Minecraft.
