EclipseSMP is a hardcore style survival server that tries to be really challenging but still fair and rewarding. You only get two lives and if you lose them you get hit with a 24 hour ban so you actually have to play smart and careful.
There are multiple free ranks you can earn from stuff like voting and media. Every rank gives you different perks that help you move up faster so you feel like you are progressing just by playing a lot.
The server uses shop and sell commands so you can make money and get rich without everything being super grindy and boring. It is not just one of those hardcore servers where you die once and instantly quit. Here you actually have reasons to keep going.
There are leaderboards and events so there is a lot of competition between players. You can try to be the best and flex your skills by staying alive longer than everyone else.
EclipseSMP runs with seasons and gets regular updates. Seasons change things up and there are limited items that you can keep forever if you get them in time. The staff and the owner say they listen to player suggestions so the server slowly becomes more like what the community wants.

This is a semi vanilla survival server that feels really focused on community and building cool stuff together. It is not a crazy hard server but it is true survival and you do not get keep inventory so you still have to be careful.
The server uses diamonds as the main money so you trade and buy things with them. There are player shops and a shops menu so you can browse or make your own store. Land claiming is done with a golden shovel so your builds stay safe and there is no griefing.
There is a live world map you can check in your browser and there are separate resource worlds so the main world stays clean and nice for building. The server is PvE focused and has a friendly community with weekly events that keep people coming back.
You can join from both Java and Bedrock so pretty much any platform works. There are ranks and vote rewards that you can earn just by playing and voting. Overall it feels like a chill survival SMP where you can build shop and explore with other players without losing your stuff to griefers.

This server is called A Zombie Pigman Broke My Door and it is a semi anarchy survival world that has been running for over 6 years. It feels like classic Minecraft with almost no rules and it has a really strong history from being up for so long.
There is only one rule on the server. You are not allowed to cheat or hack. No hacked clients and no cheating. Besides that you can basically do what you want. That means you can build or fight or trade or grief or go exploring or just hang out in chat.
The server is mainly vanilla and the plugins are just for quality of life so it still feels like normal Minecraft. There is a high mob cap so you can make efficient farms if that is your thing.
The world has a rich history with lots of chaos. Spawn is wild and kind of beautiful in a destroyed way especially if you never played on an anarchy style server before. The community is tight knit and very active and there are server events with special lore items and even a wiki page about the server.

This is a vanilla SMP called GOOMB and it is running a brand new season with amplified terrain. The world just got reset about two weeks ago so everyone is still building up their bases and the server feels really active and new.
There is a 6k by 6k world border so players end up building pretty close to each other or teaming up. Later the border will get bigger so people can spread out more and start different plans and projects. It makes the start feel like a real community because you actually see your neighbors.
The discord is super busy with people posting shop ads screenshots of cool amplified terrain and talking about trades or deals. Voice chats are usually full of people just hanging out and talking about their plans for the world so it feels like a social server not just singleplayer with chat.
The rules are pretty strict about being respectful. There is no racism no hate speech and no NSFW stuff. You are not allowed to grief steal or do PvP without consent. Players are expected to be mature keep drama out of the server and use common sense.
To join you have to apply first and get accepted by moderators before you can get whitelisted. After that you give your name and then you can hop into the amplified world and start building with everyone else.

This is a new ranked SMP that is starting really soon and it is all about PvP and ranks. Everyone is playing in vanilla style so it feels like normal Minecraft but more sweaty.
About 25 random players get a rank on the server. The higher your rank the more hearts you have. If you kill someone who has a rank you take their rank. So PvP actually matters a lot here.
There are events almost every day so it does not get boring. The players are all good at PvP and the whole server is built around fighting for better ranks and extra hearts. If you like competition this server fits you.
