The Pen is a classic prison server that feels like the older days where you actually have to grind. You start with basic tools and leather armor and you work your way up through ranks from A to H then Parolee and Citizen.
The big thing here is risk. You smelt your ores and you have to walk through PvP zones to sell them at the Commissary so it is not just instant money. Swords and potions are illegal too and the Guards will fight you if they catch you with them. If you act up you can even get sent to solitary.
There are lots of ways to make money besides mining like custom fishing and growing special illegal plants in your cell for profit. You can rent a prison cell or a plot to store items build and even run your own shop. There are quests for extra cash and special items plus an auction house bounties and parkour around the prison. After you hit top rank you can prestige for special rewards and you can also become a Parolee and leave the prison to build a farm for more money.
I found a new survival PvP server called RemakeSMP and it feels like one of those places where you join and instantly have to watch your back.
People run in teams and there are assassin groups too so it gets intense fast. The main vibe is fighting and trying to keep your stuff safe before someone takes it.
They also do tournaments every couple weeks and you can get really strong loot like the king's loot. There are basically no rules except you cannot cheat so it turns into full chaos but still fair.
Nomonom SMP is a Java survival server on 1.21.11 and it is still early so the worlds are not heavily used right now. It feels like the server is meant to last and not just a quick rush to the end.
It has an economy and plots for building and dungeons to explore. PvP is a big thing here with KOTH and duels and they want more PvP players to join. The arenas and duels are getting improved over time.
There are no mods required and the progression is slower with balance and performance being a big focus. There is also a progression tier that goes beyond Netherite so you still have stuff to work toward.
Realm of Thrones is a small crossplay survival server that keeps changing and growing over time. It is all about building civilizations and staying active with the community.
You can build a kingdom and level it up then try to become the strongest empire. Some nations fight and conquer while others stay peaceful and focus on trading and alliances. It feels like strategy because you pick friends and enemies and plan your moves.
You rise in ranks with in game money and play time. That gives you more access and prestige as you keep playing.
There are configurable tech parts you can use to make factories and try to become a big industry player. There are also a lot of quality of life changes so you do not get bored.
You can catch and sell legendary fish try your luck with crates sell items in the server shop make your own shop and take jobs that pay you for playing. You can also level up McMMO and try out the new quest set that just launched as a test.
I found a Bedrock Survival Realm that is mostly vanilla but it has extra stuff to keep it fun.
It has an economy with shops plus a TPA system ranks and auctions so players can trade and move around easier.
The realm started a new season about two weeks ago so it still feels fresh and it is growing fast. The Discord community is already huge and they do daily updates plus giveaways.
