This server is survival and it is built for chaos. The world is meant to last forever and it will not get reset so everything players do sticks around.
Griefing is allowed and pvp is allowed so you have to watch your back. It feels like the kind of place where raids and revenge are normal and bases can turn into ruins.
There is a custom coded plugin that lets you make portals to teleport to your base. It works like a gameplay based home option so travel still matters.
They say you will not get banned for what you say unless it is illegal content. They also say there are no chat reports and the admins are not the type to hover around you.

Sunset Retreat SMP is an EU based seasonal survival server with a vanilla plus feel and it is for players who are 18 and up.

I found a hardcore anarchy SMP where dying makes you permanently lose two hearts. If you die five times you get auto banned so every fight matters.
It tries to feel like a popular SMP but with no whitelist stuff at all. You just join and play.
Gameplay stays basically vanilla with only a minimal plugin setup. There are no land claims no teleports and no shop perks you can buy.
The vibe is risky and chaotic since people can find you and take everything. You can also hide and stay safe but it can get lonely.

Northwoods is a Towny SMP style server that is still early and looking for a small handful of players to help test gameplay and performance.
The world and your progress are not getting reset so what you build and earn will stick around.
It runs Towny with chat support plus stuff like levelled mobs shopkeepers simple jobs and a custom terrain generator. There is also Distant Horizons support and a custom CurseForge pack with Distant Horizons and a few client side mods.
