The Pen is a classic prison server that feels like old school Minecraft. It is not an overpowered prison. You start with basic tools and leather armor and you actually have to grind to rank up.
You work through the ranks from A all the way up to Parolee and then Citizen. To make money you mine and smelt your ores and you have to walk through pvp zones to sell them in the commissary. There is no instant sell so the grind feels tough but fair. You can also earn cash by fishing growing illegal plants or running your own shop.
There are guards who watch the prison and they can take your contraband. Swords and potions are illegal. If a guard sees you with them they can pvp you and even send you to solitary confinement for bad behavior. It makes the whole place feel like a real prison with risk everywhere.
You can rent a prison cell or a prison plot to store items grow those special illegal plants or build a small base. Quests give extra money or special items and there are prestiges after you hit top rank so you can keep pushing further. There is also an auction house bounties on other players and parkour challenges all around the prison.
The server is mainly about that 2014 style grind and community. People are expected to survive fight and trade while the guards try to keep things under control.

This is a new Minecraft SMP that is all about Lifesteal and PVP. The server has only been up for a few days so the world still feels really fresh.
There is a 3000 by 3000 block world border so players run into each other pretty often. It makes fights happen more and bases are not super far away.
The server has one person sleep so nights go by faster which is nice for building and exploring. It also supports both of Xaero maps so it is easier to find your way around.
There is simple voice chat so players can talk in game and it makes fights and teaming way more fun.
The End fight is already planned. It happens on Saturday January 3rd at 5 PM EST so everyone can get ready and gear up.
Right now there are about eight active players and it feels like a small but growing PVP community.

This is a whitelisted survival server that feels like it is made for players who want to stay for a long time. The survival world never resets so everything you build can last.
You can earn in game money and use it to buy ranks that give you new perks. There is McMMO so you can level up different skills while you play. There are Jobs like miner fishing and digging so you can make money by doing normal Minecraft stuff.
You can claim land by making a town. You can group with other players or just use the town system to protect your own builds if you like to play more solo.
There are custom items custom fish from fishing and custom enchants so it is not just plain vanilla. The server is PVE and whitelisted and they are looking for more mature players to join.

MineStrike is a Minecraft Java server that focuses on fast kit pvp and a cool survival multiplayer world.
The kit pvp here is really quick and feels intense. You get custom kits and killstreaks and the combat is made to feel balanced so fights are actually fun. If you just want to log in and start fighting right away this server is set up for that.
There is also a long term SMP. It has an economy and land claiming and some quality of life features so you can build and chill for a long time. It feels like a place where you can actually stay and keep your stuff safe.
The staff team is active and they care about fair play. There is anti cheat so people who hack get caught. The server runs versions from 1.8 to 1.21 plus so a lot of Java players can join.

CataclysmCraft 4 feels like a big modded adventure server with a ton of stuff to do. It runs on Minecraft 1.20.1 and uses a custom modpack so it is not just a basic survival world.
The owners even made their own original mod just for this server. It adds new monsters and a whole new dimension to explore so it feels different from normal Minecraft.
The world itself is also custom. They used world painter to make a massive map that is built for exploring and building kingdoms instead of a boring default seed.
There are a bunch of well known mods in the pack like Biomes O Plenty Epic Knights Tinkers Construct Via Romana and Alexs Mobs plus the main Cataclysmcraft mod. So the gameplay feels like a mix of exploration fighting building and tech.
You can build your own kingdom and still be safe because the server has land claiming. PvP is allowed but they also use a corpse mod so when you die you do not instantly lose everything which makes it less stressful.
Overall it looks like a modded server for people who like adventure new monsters custom worlds and building big bases while still having some danger from PvP and the world itself.

I found this server and it seems like a simple place where someone just wants people to play with.
There is not a big list of game modes or crazy features. It just feels like a normal Minecraft world where you can hop on and hang out with someone.
If you just want to join a small server and not be alone this looks like a good spot. It feels more like playing with a new friend than joining some giant network.
