Minecraft Universalis is a modded Minecraft server for 1.20.1 that is built around late medieval and early modern war during the Pike and Shot era.
There are 21 factions fighting for control and each one has its own army setup power structure and way of doing war. The server talks a lot about castles warships and the big shift when gunpowder starts to matter.
The world is a generated map with rich biomes plus NPC kingdoms and structures you can explore or settle in. It also has new mechanics to keep the historical feel and it uses in game GUIs and Discord for stuff like estates and diplomacy.
It is planned to launch in March 2026 and they want it to be deep but not something that needs tons of prior knowledge.

Cozy MC is a survival server that tries to feel like a long term world with friends. It is hard difficulty and it stays vanilla with no gameplay mods.
The big idea is trust. There are no claims and no locked containers so the community is expected to play fair and respect each other. People build towns and farms and shops and also bigger stuff like roads between places.
It supports Java and Bedrock crossplay. The server does not do payments or donations or perks. Even with a big Discord the world stays more cozy in game with about 30 to 40 players online so you start to recognize people and teamwork happens a lot.
New players have to join and read the rules first. That is how you unlock building and interacting. Bedrock players can also join by adding the server friend and they may need to wait a bit then use /me to say hello so chat works.

I found a new game server hosting platform that is doing a free beta test right now. The beta is planned to be free for about three months.
They want people to spin up servers and test performance then share honest feedback. You can pick which node your server runs on.
The whole point is performance focused hosting with lots of headroom. They say they do not want to cram a bunch of servers onto one machine.
This might stay private and may never fully open to the public. The panel they use is pterodactyl and they are mainly testing systems networks and power costs.

Origin SMP is a survival server on version 1.21 that works on Java and Bedrock. It feels like a serious world where people actually care about what happens and the story keeps going.
The big thing is the Tier system for PvP. If you kill other players you gain Tiers and if you die you lose them so fights have real stakes. There is also proximity voice chat so you can talk to people when you are near them which makes trading and threats way more intense.
It runs semi anarchy with no land claims so trust and politics matter a lot. The world is a finite 2500 by 2500 blocks so you will run into people often. Anarchy is allowed but random griefing with no purpose can get rolled back to protect the long term SMP stories.
The community is active daily and friendly but still competitive. It fits builders PvPers roleplayers and content creators who want progression and consequences.

NisseSMP is a HermitCraft inspired survival server that feels like vanilla but with some extra quality of life plugins. It supports Java and Bedrock crossplay so more friends can play together.
The whole vibe is built on trust and fair play. There are no claims and the rules focus on no grief and no pvp so people can just build and survive without drama.
The economy is run by players with shops and trading plus a virtual currency. The community is active and it can hit around 30 to 60 players online at peak times.
