This is a fantasy and steampunk Minecraft roleplay server called Spells Gears n Bells RP. When I joined it felt like walking into a story world instead of just another survival map.
The server uses mods like Create Iron's Spells and Spellbooks and Incendium plus a bunch more. There are also data packs like Origins Datapack Stellarity and new dungeon datapacks that change how the game feels a lot. You get powers explore new dungeons and mess with cool machines and magic.
You make your own original character and step into the land of Mystodia. You can explore the world meet other players and learn what is going on in the lore. You can help create new stories or try to solve the mysteries that are already there.
Roleplay is the main focus of the server but you do not have to stay in character all the time. You can chill out of character when you want and then jump back into the story when you feel like it. It feels like a relaxed place where people like fantasy and steampunk and want to help shape a growing world.

It works fine when they join on the same computer using local connection but people outside could not join through the external address.

I found a nation called the Socialist Collective State of Arcania on the Worldbound SMP. It is built around unity order and strength and it is meant to feel organized and serious.
They have a clear leadership setup with a top trio and a council of ministers. Some jobs are already taken and some are open so people can actually join and have a role.
What you do here is mostly about building up the state. You can help with cities and infrastructure and industry. You can also join the armed forces to defend the territory or work your way up in government.

The Garden SMP is a Java 1.21.11 survival server that leans hard into worldbuilding roleplay and adventure. It feels like a place where people actually try to make stories and not just speedrun gear.
The big thing is the 3 life system tied to PvP. If you lose your lives you become a ghost which makes fights feel serious. There is also a revival system using craftable books so people can come back if the server decides it.
Travel and storage are more grounded since there is no Elytra and no Ender Chests. It pushes players to build real paths and bases and towns. Chests can be locked and there is lockpicking too so security matters.
It also has player shops alcohol brewing mob taming new dimensions and lots of quality of life stuff. The start sounds dramatic because you begin in the clouds then descend the Monolith then pick your race and wake up on the shores of Isla De Viva Eterna.
