SmokeyMC is a Towny survival server where players build towns and either stay peaceful or go to war with other towns. It feels like a mix of chill smp and town strategy.
The server has playtime based ranks and jobs so you level up just by playing and working. There is mcMMO so skills and progression make your character feel stronger over time.
The world uses custom terrain and there are rtp resource and flat worlds so you do not wreck the main builds when you gather stuff. There is also an online server map so you can see towns and battles from a browser.
You can play on both Java and Bedrock because the server has cross play. Bedrock players join by adding Smoky Peaks as a friend and then join their game. After you get to the hub you click the npc on the right to join the Towny world.
There is optional Discord voice chat for people who like talking and the server says it aims for lag free gameplay. Players can make their own shops and use in game balance for trading. There are also fun monthly server events so the community has stuff to do together.

Misted Lands is a new Minecraft roleplay server that just opened and it feels like a dark story book come to life. The world is cursed by a father named Yosif after his daughter Anya was killed for being called a witch. Now the land is sealed by magic and filled with zombies skeletons spiders and other monsters that never really let you rest.
The server is focused on roleplay but it is pretty relaxed. You can talk in character or out of character using voice chat or text chat and you are not forced to stay in character all the time. Players are meant to interact with each other and slowly shape the lore of this wicked world as they survive in it.
There are RPG mechanics like classes and leveling so your character feels like it is growing stronger over time. The server also uses quality of life mods like better transport a map crafting helpers farming stuff and building tools so the gameplay feels smoother while you explore and survive.
Right now the team behind Misted Lands is very small and the project is just starting so it feels like a place where new players can actually matter to the story. Every night the monsters attack again and the survivors try to hold on while hope gets weaker. If you like dark stories and roleplay mixed with modded survival this server is built exactly for that.

StrayaMC is a new Aussie skyblock server that just launched and it feels really fresh. The server is hosted in Australia so the ping is super low and it feels smooth when you play.
The main game is skyblock where you build up your own island and progress through island missions. There is an economy so you can earn money and spend it in a shop and you can trade stuff with other players through auctions.
The server lets Java and Bedrock players play together so it is easy to join with different devices. Since it is just starting out it is a good place if you want a fresh start on a new server with no crazy history yet.

Fuggin Fortress is a semi vanilla server that feels like a big project that keeps getting better every day. It has a simple survival style but with some extra quality of life stuff like custom enchants plus home claim and tpa so it is easier to live with other players.
There are a bunch of different worlds to try. There is a normal survival world. There is a creative world that uses a separate inventory so you cannot cheat items. There is a vanilla style world and also an amplified world for crazy mountains. There is even a superflat survival world if you want a weird challenge.
The server is aimed at adults so the vibe is more mature and chill. The owner talks about growing the server and adding more things all the time. When there are enough players they want to start doing events and contests with real prizes which sounds pretty cool.

GufySMP is a semi anarchy server where you can do almost anything. There are basically no rules except no cheating or hacked clients or unfair mods. If you play legit then everything else is fair game.
The server is mostly vanilla but it has a few helpful plugins. You can set a home and use random teleport and tpa to move around and meet other players. There is also an economy with commands like bal so you can track your money.
One cool feature is SmartSpawner. This lets you silk touch natural mob spawners and move them which is really fun for building farms. There is also eShulkerBox so you can open your shulker boxes without placing them down.
The server uses SimpleVoiceChat so players can talk in game with proximity voice. That makes fights and teaming up feel way more intense and funny.
This is the first public server from the owner so there might be a bug or two but that also means it feels fresh and new. If you want a mostly vanilla world with chaos and almost no rules GufySMP is worth checking out.

This is a modded Minecraft server with a custom pack made by the owner. Stuff is kind of broken on purpose or at least it feels like that.
You cannot sleep at night even when it is clearly dark so you just have to deal with it. The light also looks messed up so things feel really cursed when you walk around.
In the nether piglins even zombify which is super weird and makes it feel like the whole world is bugged out. If you like strange glitches and a server that does not act normal this one is actually pretty fun to watch and try.
