This server is called Smithtainment Minecraft and it feels like a long running home for survival players. It has been around for over ten years and the owners seem to care a lot about making everyone feel welcome.
The server is a custom survival world that still feels kind of vanilla. It is on hard mode so mobs hit pretty hard and the world feels more dangerous. There are jobs you can do and skills you can level so you can rank up over time just from playing.
There is a big custom spawn with villagers to talk to and a PvP arena under it. The villagers have their own stories and there is some mystery about what happened in the past. There is also a resource world so the main world does not get destroyed by mining.
If you die you get sent to a fairy who offers to sell your items back which is pretty different from most servers. There are lots of commands like teleport to random places set home resource teleport cosmetics tags and more so it is easier to get around.
The server has a player driven economy with shops and an auction house. You can fish in custom fishing events and even do custom ender dragon fights with other players. The community comes across as nice and helpful especially to new players.
