I found Lumi Hardcore and it is a Hardcore Survival SMP where you only get one life. The world does a fresh reset and it runs in 60 day seasons so everyone gets a fair start.
If you die you are out and you go into spectator mode until the next reset. The server is mostly vanilla and you do not need mods so it still feels like normal Minecraft but way more tense.
It uses a small set of lightweight datapacks to keep things clean and immersive. Deaths get a lightning strike and there are global death messages. There are graves that store your items where you died plus extra decorative blocks and some furniture options. There is also a tree vein miner for chopping trees and a simple day display.

I found a new SMP that is made for Java players and also crossplay so more people can join together. The vibe is chill and it is more about hanging out and building up towns with your team.
People can make town areas and community centres then travel around to other places and meet players. There is custom terrain plus custom items and other extra stuff to mess with.

A big new thing is the Wasteland Dimension opening on November 8th.
