WhimsyWillow is a small community focused Minecraft server and it is on Season 3 right now. This season is modded and the mods were picked by the community so it feels like everyone helped shape it.
There is a ton to explore with over 100 biomes using Biomes O Plenty and Terratonic plus lots of structures around the world. It also has the Create mod so people can build machines and contraptions and anything reasonable is allowed.
They run Bluemaps so you can look at the world map and see what is going on. There are also more ores to make progression feel more fun with new tools and weapons.
Spawn is kept nice and there is a shop district with player shops that can sell whatever they want. The server asks for suggestions a lot and they try to do events once in a while to keep things active. You can apply for the whitelist with a short application.
