This server is called Waychest and it feels like a big shared adventure.
You start out like you are alone in your own private world. It is survival and it is pretty close to vanilla. You can play by yourself or with some friends in what they call a Journey. Every Journey has its own spawn spot and its own progress in the same giant world.
As you explore more you slowly find out you are not actually alone. There are special chests called Waychests and they connect different Journeys together. When you follow them you find builds and stuff left behind by other players who were here before you.
There is a flying minigame too. You can get ingredients to craft a special elytra and then you fly through rings in the world. If you do it right it leads you to another Waychest made by someone else.
The server has discovery based warps so you can fast travel but only after you actually find the warp spots first. Almost all of the non vanilla features are made just for this server.
It is PvE and it feels calm and about exploring and building and slowly crossing paths with other people in the same world.
