SmokeyMC is a towny style SMP where people build towns and either live peaceful or go to war. It feels like a mix of chill survival and big town drama.
The server has playtime based ranks and jobs so you level up just by playing and working. There are MCMMO skills too so you get stronger the more you use tools and weapons. There is a player made shop system and an in game balance so towns can have real economies.
The world has custom terrain and there are different worlds for rtp resource gathering and flat building. There is also an online server map so you can see towns and battles from above.
The server runs on Minecraft 1.21.10 and supports both Java and Bedrock so a lot of different players can join. You can use optional Discord voice chat if you like talking while you play.
It feels like a good place if you like long term survival towns wars between nations and monthly events with other players.

This server is called Nation States and it is a new semi vanilla world that uses the towny claiming system. When I joined it felt like the whole point was to build nations and not just random bases.
The server wants players to focus on roleplay lore and conflicts. That means people are expected to act like they are part of a real nation. You are supposed to do diplomacy trade and even war with other players.
There is something they call the spirit of the server. It is about having fun roleplay good lore and actual conflicts between groups. If you ignore that and just try to ruin the experience they will remove you to protect the server.
The theme is early antiquity so it feels like a really old world style. The map is a custom map that is about 5k by 5k so it is big but not too huge. It makes nations feel close enough to meet and fight.
You can join from Java Bedrock and even console so a lot of people can play together no matter what device they use.

This server is all about survival actually meaning something. It is a hardcore SMP with only one life and it feels super intense.
If you die you are banned. There are no respawns and no second chances. Every fight and every cave trip feels scary because one mistake can end your run.
The server is semi anarchy so PvP is allowed. Raiding and griefing are allowed. You can make alliances or betray people. You can start wars and play politics. Staff do not interfere so players decide what happens.
There is a huge world border that goes 600000 by 600000 so there is tons of space to explore. You can build hidden bases far away and try to make long term empires.

Rave SMP is a new survival server that feels like a mix of anarchy and chill play. It is not fully vanilla because it uses some fun plugins but you only find out about them once you join the community. The world has a 15k by 15k overworld border and everyone is starting fresh together so no one is super far ahead.
The server is hosted in Singapore and is up 24 7 so players can join pretty much any time of day. It is made for a Filipino community and they say 18 plus but they also mention all ages so the vibe is more about how you act than your age. People who like building exploring and wars are all welcome. You can be peaceful or you can lean into the anarchy side and fight other players.
Simple Voice Chat is recommended because the server uses proximity voice chat. That makes talking and teaming way easier and it makes events more fun. They plan at least one or two events every month and both admins and players can host them so the community has a lot of input.

AvalonEarth is a Minecraft earthsmp and geopolitics server where the owner gives everyone starter money so you can make a nation right away. You do not have to grind first just to start playing the game.
The world map is 1 to 500 scale so there is a lot of space to claim land and build up towns and countries. The server uses Towny so nations and towns feel like the main focus of how you play.
This is the second season of the server and the community already feels active and growing. There are lots of new players and returning players from the first season so it does not feel empty.
If you like conflict and wars this server has a lot of them and nations really fight for power. If you hate wars you can still try to live more peaceful and avoid most of the battles.
