I found a very early alpha Minecraft server that is going for late medieval faction warfare with RPG style progression and a real player economy.
It is not trying to force everyone into one grind. You can go all in on PvP wars or you can focus on MMO style leveling. You can also play more independent as a trader gatherer craftsman or contractor and just supply factions and build for people.
It has custom crops plus custom weapons and armor with special effects. There is custom furniture and custom mobs that are stronger than vanilla. There are also boss mobs that push party based play.
Trading is a big deal here. Players spawn in a main market hub called Osthaven and there is a secure trade window system so you do not have to do sketchy drop trades. You can also set up temporary wilderness camps protected with WorldGuard for hunting gathering and traveling.
Since it is early alpha they want testers who will try mechanics look for bugs and balance issues and give honest feedback to help shape what the server becomes.
