AdriftSMP is starting up with two different servers so you can pick how you want to play.
One server is vanilla enhanced. It has new world structure to explore and levelled mobs if you want more of a challenge. It also has an economy with player shops and auctions. You can claim land and PvP can be toggled. It also uses proximity chat with simple voice chat and has playtime rewards.
The other server is a Season 1 total PvP server. It has leader boards for kills deaths and playtime. You earn in game currency from kills and can buy kits so you can get back into fights fast. You can team up or go solo and nothing is against the rules. Teams get disbanded in the last week for a free for all event. It also has proximity chat with simple voice chat and a bounty system.
Both servers launch on 3rd April and the community helps shape things with polls and suggestions.

There is a player economy with a shop plus jobs and player shops. You can also use warps to get around. The world does not reset so your progress keeps meaning something.

Atropolis is a newly opened whitelisted Java SMP that aims for a 16 plus semi vanilla community vibe. It feels like normal survival but with a bunch of quality of life changes that make the grind less annoying.
You get stuff like one person sleep and phantoms are disabled plus a PvP toggle. They also have anti grief protections and rollbacks ready if something goes bad. Keep inventory is on in the nether and the end.
There are add ons like Simple Voice Chat and Elytra Trims and those are optional if you want them. You can also find things like Dynmap death count and player and mob head drops. Nether access is set up at spawn and they allow nether roof travel.
They are doing an early community event where the end stays closed until March 28 so everyone can open it together. All types of players are welcome.

This server is a modern apocalypse survival world where things get really tense fast and it has a horror vibe with parasites and a zombie virus theme. It just opened and people are already teaming up and looking for more players.
You spawn inside a quarantined zone called Alpigus and everyone is trapped inside for the first 7 days. When the power fails the wall opens and that is when the Nether unlocks and the End becomes reachable.
There is also a grid failure protocol where a nuke will drop inside the wall and wipe everything in that area so you have to escape before that happens or you are done for. After the wall opens the goal is to make a permanent base outside and survive as the world gets consumed.
It is not hardcore. There is land claim and it stops griefing and pvp but it does not stop stealing. You can also toggle pvp inside claims with claim commands.

Adrift SMP is a semi vanilla survival server that feels like it is run for the players. It is meant to stay consistent so people can settle in and not worry about the server suddenly changing direction.
PvP is toggleable so you can chill and build or you can fight when you want. There is also land claim so your builds can stay safe.
The economy is player driven with chest shops. You can also do jobs and quests. There are playtime rewards and ranks too.
The world is meant to last so what gets built is expected to remain for the foreseeable future. It is mostly aimed at builders and creative people but there will be a PvP arena for players who want battles. Everyone is welcome as long as you are respectful.

Normal Survival is a friendly survival server where everyone can fit in. It feels more like a relaxing place to build and explore with other players instead of a hardcore fight server.
It has custom quality of life crafting recipes plus stuff like chopping a whole tree at once and mining connected ores faster. You can set multiple homes so getting around is easier. You can also do teleport requests with other players when you want to meet up.
There are player run shops so people can trade and build a real economy. Voting lets you pick rewards from a voter shop.
PvP is not the main point here. You can toggle it on or off and just play calmly. Claims are there to help protect builds. You can even pick up villagers and other non hostile mobs. Keep inventory is a player toggle too. Phantoms are disabled so nights are less annoying.
The server gets updates weekly and they keep adding improvements over time.

Atropolis is a newly opened SMP that is aiming for a 16+ semi vanilla community feel. It keeps the game mostly normal but adds some nice quality of life stuff.
You can expect things like phantoms turned off and one person sleep. There is a pvp toggle and some anti grief settings for certain mobs. If something goes really wrong there are protections and rollbacks to help fix it.
Keep inventory is on in the nether and the end. The server also uses add ons like Simple Voicechat plus elytra trims plus a deathcount and player and mob head drops and a live map. Voice chat and elytra trims are optional if you want them.
For the first community event the end stays closed for the first week so everyone can work together for opening day. Nether access and nether roof travel are set up at spawn and all types of players are welcome.

Stormy Lagoon is a fair long term SMP that supports Java and Bedrock crossplay. It is built to feel balanced and it stays away from pay to win since ranks and perks can be earned.
The server has custom progression with Stormy Items where you can level up your tools weapons and armor and get abilities. There are daily missions and weekly challenges that reward Pearls plus milestones for long term progress and a Pearl shop where you can spend what you earn on perks ranks and cosmetics.
Gameplay has mcMMO skills for things like combat mining and fishing. The economy is player driven so people can buy sell and trade. You also get activity based rewards like Pearls Diamonds and rank progress and you can rank up just by playtime.
There are yearly resource worlds so the main world does not get wrecked for materials. There is an RTP menu to move around five worlds.
For safety it uses strong claims with permissions to help stop griefing. PvP is consensual since you can toggle it on or off. You can also set tags and join messages and make pixel art with canvas style art maps.
