Origin SMP feels like a real survival world where every move matters. It runs on version 1.21 and uses lifesteal so every fight can change your hearts and your power. The server is not pure chaos. It is semi anarchy with a focus on stories and player choices.
People use proximity voice chat so you actually talk to players who are near you. You can trade plan raids or just hang out and it all feels more real. There are no claims so you have to trust others or fear them. Your base and your alliances are protected more by your relationships than by plugins.

So I found this server called GeoSMP and it is a new Vanilla Earth style world. The map is based on Earth and you can make your own towns and build up with other people.
The server is pretty fresh so you can get a nice start and not feel super behind everyone else. It feels really balanced and not pay to win and that makes it more fun to just play and explore.
The owner and staff worked really hard on it and you can kind of tell when you run around and see how everything is set up. They are trying to grow the community and want players of all ages to join and hang out.

Creation Network is a new RPG style Minecraft server that just went into beta. I joined to check it out and the first gamemode is all about using elements.
You get special abilities that are based on the four elements. It is not a normal bending copy. They have custom abilities that are only on this server so it feels different from other element servers I played.
There are custom enchants and an RTP system so you can get out into the world fast. There is also a clan system so you can team up with other players and play together.

This server is called SmartieSMP and it is actually real vanilla. It does not have gameplay changing plugins and there are no home commands or teleports or pay to win stuff. You just play survival how the game is meant to be played and you have to earn everything yourself.
The world is shaped only by the players. People build bases and empires and make alliances or have conflicts. Player skill matters a lot here. Stuff like farming redstone pvp and defending your base really counts. There is one small quality of life tweak which is a simple combat log system so pvp is more fair.
Season Two has been going for about a week and there is a community Ender Dragon fight planned soon. The staff is active and fair and they only enforce the important rules so the server still feels free but not chaotic.

This server is called Nation States and it is still in development but it already has a clear idea.
It uses the towny claiming system so players can make towns and then create nations. The server is all about building nations doing diplomacy making trades and going to war. The whole point is to make people interact and not just hide alone.
The theme of the server is early antiquity. There is a custom map that is about 5k by 5k so it feels like a real world to fight over.
The owner talks a lot about the spirit of the server. That means players should focus on fun roleplay lore and cool conflicts. If people try to ruin that or just ignore the theme they can be removed because the server wants to stay fair and fun.

Aurora SMP is a vanilla style server that also uses a few cool plugins. It feels fun and chill but players still try to be competitive.
There is a special Infuse SMP plugin that adds custom potions with boosted effects. There is also a HeadDrop plugin where you can use it on a player kill them and get their head to pretend to be them. Another plugin lets you move villagers way faster by clicking them so you can carry villagers right in your inventory.

This server is called Exodus Factions and it is a semi vanilla world where players make nations and fight wars. It feels like a group of friends from other servers all came together to make something that lasts and is actually fun.
The community is pretty new and friendly and people help each other a lot. Even though it starts peaceful there is a big focus on possible war and alliances later so you can team up or go against other nations.
All of the nations and shared areas are built by players with almost no admin building which makes the world feel more real. There are some quality of life plugins like in game voice chat tree chopping and BreweryX so you can do more than just basic survival.
There is a world border and the nether and end are closed but they added custom crafting recipes to make up for that. The whole thing feels like a player run world where nations rise and fall over time.

It is a survival type server where the big thing is using those special enchants to upgrade your gear and get stronger over time
The server feels like it wants you to grind and explore and mess around with different enchanted items
I think it is good for people who like survival and want more interesting tools and weapons instead of just normal vanilla stuff
