LastStand is a semi hardcore Minecraft server where every life actually matters. If you die three times from anything at all you turn into a ghost for 24 hours because of a custom plugin. It feels way more intense than normal survival so even simple stuff like mining or building has a little extra thrill.
The server tries to stay pretty close to vanilla. There are plugins like land claims and teams but they are just there to make the game smoother and more fun. You can focus on building cool bases with higher stakes start fights and pvp or try to lead a powerful nation with your friends.

I found this server called Iperios and it is all about making nations. You can start your own nation and make your own government and your own rules and ranks. If you do not want to lead a nation you can just join one that is already made.
The server runs the Allthemods10 ATM10 modpack on version 5.3.1 so you need that installed before you can play. It is whitelist only so you have to join their discord first and ask to get on the list.
When you first join the staff helps you a lot. A staff member shows you around and gives you a beginner kit so you are not totally lost. After that you can go off and build or join a nation and start playing how you like.

Warriors SMP is a small survival world that is all about pvp teams and hanging out for a long time. It is still in beta so it feels fresh and new and everybody is still figuring stuff out.

Victory Valley is a Minecraft server that tries to feel like a real MOBA game. It has 5v5 2v2 and ARAM so you can play big team fights or smaller matches.
The server has matchmaking for 5v5 and 2v2 so you get ranked games. There are ranks like Coal IV and Iron I. When season 1 starts only the matchmaking ranks will reset. Your total kills deaths and favorite champion will stay on your profile page.

Eden is a long term Minecraft world that never resets so everything people build really matters for a long time.
The admins stay out of normal gameplay so players handle conflict and cooperation on their own. If someone causes problems or starts a war it is all solved with in game mechanics and not by staff.
There is a reinforcement system so you can make blocks doors and chests super tough. Griefing can still happen but it takes a lot of effort and risk.
The server also uses snitches that log what players do in certain areas. This lets groups collect proof instead of just guessing who did something.
There are no easy claim menus. Land is protected by planning teamwork bastion blocks and smart building instead of magic protection.
Progression comes from the environment. Ores appear as you mine and they depend on biome and height. Crops grow slow and in different ways in each biome and people use them in factories to make xp.
Factories and farms can keep running even when no one is near their chunks.
The economy is fully player run with ItemExchange. There are no server shops. Players already run shops and nations are working together on a big trade hub.
The community has been playing together in different long term worlds for almost ten years and right now the new world is fresh with a solid group online at peak times.

This is a nation on a big anarchy style server called CivMC. The nation is called Orient and they are trying to grow and get more players.
The server has some plugins but the people there will teach you how they work so you do not have to know everything already. You just join and learn as you play.
