They recently made a separate world for the RPG quest and dungeon parts. Spawn and protected city style areas were moved there and a new main city spawn called Parsel was added with the old spawn features moved over too.

It runs on 1.21 and it also lets you join on versions 1.17 through 1.21.11

I found a modded survival server that is tied to a story based questing pack called Banished To The Wastelands. It is in public beta and they want playtesters. You can test it on the server or you can do it in singleplayer survival.
The server usually has a small group on at a time. Right now it averages around a few players.
The pack has a lot of content already with about one and a half dimensions worth of stuff and over 20 bosses. Some bosses are custom made. There are 156 mods and the pack is built so most of them feel changed to fit the same theme.
When you join you pick a race and a fighting style. That choice decides what combat and utility skills you can unlock. Your abilities grow as you defeat more enemies.
