The Perch is a Java SMP that is meant to feel like a second home. The community focus is a big deal here and they try hard to keep things away from toxicity and drama.
The server has a survival feel and they put a lot of thought into changes so the game does not feel bloated. Features can be toggled off if you do not like them. Farms and redstone contraptions are also meant to behave like they do in the base game.
They stay in contact with players using suggestions and tickets plus bi monthly feedback forms. They also post weekly change logs and run monthly events.
There is a playtime based ranking system where you unlock perks by playing. The economy is described as fair and balanced and there are lots of player run shops. There are also small gameplay tweaks to make things nicer and a web map where you can view all worlds.
