Headrest SMP is a Paper server on 1.20.10 and Season 2 starts in 2 days. It has a few quality of life plugins plus Terralith and some extra structure plugins so exploring feels fresh.
The server is roleplay focused and the community tries to be chill so people can make friends and build. There are factions and wars too and you can even betray people if that is your kind of story.
Spawn has a safe zone where players can build shops and just talk. There is simple voice chat using the Simple VC mod.
PvP is more of a side thing but it is still there. Combat has rules like no elytra during fights and there is combat logging protection plus /sit.

Heavens Blessing is a server where players make big factions that feel like empires with their own rules and twists.
One of the factions is called the Ancient Sculks. They want to become the strongest group on the whole server. To actually form this faction they need 25 players to join them.
Everyone in Ancient Sculks uses the Warden origin. That means they get double health and can see outlines of nearby mobs. They also have natural defense even with no armor and can launch a sonic boom and more stuff like that.

I saw that there are already players from Europe like French and Italian. One district just started using English as a shared language on its own. Nobody planned it. It just happened because people needed a way to talk.

The server has pvp and duels so survival is competitive and not just peaceful building. There is vein miner that makes mining faster so you can progress a bit quicker. There is also proximity voice chat so talking to people feels more real when you explore or fight or roleplay.

You can do full PvP and raiding and griefing is totally allowed. People can team up and make alliances or just stab each other in the back. You can build a big base or an empire and someone else might come and burn it all down.
There are no special plugins and no pay to win shop. It is just classic survival where the players make all the chaos. If you like danger and drama and crazy fights this place feels perfect.

This is a semi anarchy style server with a really weird death system. When you die in the overworld you get sent to a different dimension but you keep your items. If you die in that other dimension you lose everything. So you have to be careful or you are totally wiped.
There are three big nations you can join or you can just play alone. Interdimensional Raiders is the one for bounty hunters. They focus on hunting other players in the overworld to gain power and items. Sunburst is more for PvE players and they cannot be targeted by the raiders and just want to explore and learn about other dimensions. Xing is based on Fullmetal Alchemist and if you start there you begin with custom abilities and you have to build your whole progress around those abilities.
Right now the server is a work in progress. The owner keeps it online as much as possible and is still testing stuff so some features do not work yet but they are being worked on a lot. Custom items and mobs are planned and are coming pretty soon.
There is a 20 player limit at the moment so it feels like a small community. The only things that can get you banned are if you purposely try to lag or crash the server. This server feels like you crashed into a broken world and now you have to figure out what is going on. It is not a fresh start and the whole thing is built around this Time Zero idea with rift events and a fractured dimension.
It is a semi vanilla SMP so it still feels like normal Minecraft but with extra stuff going on. There is some light lore so you are not forced to roleplay hard but the story is there if you want to follow it.
The server has factions so you can team up or go against other players. There is proximity chat so talking to people nearby feels way more real and kind of intense. They run frequent events so things do not get boring and there is always something happening.
The community is active with usually around five to ten players on so it does not feel empty. Players get to choose plugins so the server builds around what the community likes. It works for both Bedrock and Java in a seamless way so your friends can join no matter what they play on.

This is a semi vanilla SMP called FolksMC. It feels like a small tight group that wants more people to join and help shape the server.
The main thing here is factions. The history of the server is all about different factions and what they did. There can be wars between factions but they are done in a way where people still have fun and stuff does not get wiped out into nothing. Right now there are only a few factions so there is room for new ones.
You can make your own faction with friends or join one that already exists. If you do not want any of that you can also play solo as a nomad and just do your own thing.
The server is semi vanilla with a couple of simple plugins. There is home so you can set two homes and there is spawn. When you die a gravestone plugin keeps your items safe in a player head. There is a timber style plugin so cutting trees is way faster and cleaner. You can sit on stairs slabs and other blocks. There is also a minecart plugin so you can travel on rails without using powered rails.
