I found a Forge 1.20.1 modded server project that is building an RPG style pack and they want people who will actually stay active.
The big twist is players can become bosses. They plan to set up special areas for player boss arenas and use a wheel to pick who becomes a boss. It sounds like there will be around 4 to 5 player bosses.
The pack is built around an RPG grind with Mine and Slash and it also uses Epic Fight with addons. It has magic more biomes lots of real bosses structures better raids extra dimensions more mobs and more weapons plus qol and performance mods.
You need at least 16 GB of RAM to run it and it is for ages 14 and up. The modpack is not sent out yet.

Legends of Stonehaven is a medieval fantasy RPG server running Season 2 and it is built around a fantasy medieval RPG modpack.
Combat feels way different here with new animations and a dodge mechanic that makes fights feel more active. You also get a deep skill tree and origins so your character build can feel strong and personal.
There are custom weapons armor trinkets bosses origins and divine blessings that are balanced for this pack. Enemies scale up as you explore farther so the world stays dangerous.
Magic is a big deal too with two main magic mods that help in fights and for utility. The overworld nether and end are overhauled and there are tons of dungeons and structures plus five new dimensions to explore.
Questing is a huge part of it with over 200 quests you can do solo or with friends and some add story and lore. There is also a quest shop where you spend coins on useful items.
They also care about performance with mods and features aimed at better fps and load times. There are quality of life things like backpacks and storage systems to keep the grind smoother.

Blossom SMP is a friendly survival server that is moving into a more modded season. It is meant to feel like playing with friends and the community cares a lot about respect.
It is LGBTQ friendly and welcomes everyone. This is not a pvp server and fighting only happens if both people agree.
Players can pick from over 100 Origins to change how they play. There is optional roleplay if you want it. The server also has Better End and Better Nether plus new dimensions new mobs new enchants and lots of new structures.
If you like building there are over 1000 extra blocks to use. If you like adventure there is tough late game content and over 500 new weapons. It also includes Farmer's Delight Better Archeology and Simple Voice Chat.
The server opens Sunday 3 8 at 5pm EST. The End stays closed for about a week and then everyone kills the dragon together.

I found a newer server that is built around a custom tech and magic modpack and it is meant to last a long time. The main vibe is role play and RPG style survival with a big community focus.
