This is a semi anarchy raiding survival server that has been running since 2011. It feels really old school and there is almost no staff stuff getting in the way.
You can raid and grief other players and there are no land claims or base protection. Lapis is used like money here. You can set a home and use tpa so you can move around the map and visit people if they accept.
The world is normal vanilla generation and the difficulty is hard. The End gets reset on the first day of every month so it is a bad idea to build a base there. Players can collect spawners too.
There are some rules. You cannot use hacks macros or mods that are not on the permitted list. You also cannot abuse duplication bugs except for TNT rails carpet string and tripwire hooks. You have to listen to admins and mods when they tell you to do something.
Most people who play are from North America but anyone can join. Some players are friendly and helpful and some are pretty toxic because there is not much moderation. If someone is annoying you can use the ignore command on them.
Overall it is a rough server where you have to hide your stuff raid other people and just survive in a hard world with very little protection.

This is a new SMP that started not long ago and it has a cool idea. You can either join the normal pvp side or you can declare yourself peaceful. Peaceful players cannot be griefed or stolen from and they are not part of the pvp scene.
The server runs in hard mode and has a world border from minus 4k to plus 4k. It uses custom terrain generation with tectonic and terralith and all the chunks are already preloaded so exploring feels smooth.
There are a bunch of quality of life tweaks. Only one player needs to sleep to skip the night. Minecarts go super fast at 90 meters per second and use the new experimental physics. You can sit on stairs. Enderman and ghast griefing is turned off and phantoms are disabled.
You can silk touch spawners and also silk touch amethyst buds. Ender pearls are disabled so movement feels different. The server uses purpur software to run everything.
If you like survival with some custom changes and the option to stay peaceful this server feels like a good mix of calm and danger.
