The Pen is a classic prison server that feels like the older grindy style. You start basic with leather armor and simple tools and you have to work your way up through ranks from A down to H then Parolee and Citizen.
This server really pushes the old prison vibe where PvP matters and the economy is not free. You have to smelt your ores and then move through PvP zones to sell at the Commissary so it feels risky and slower.
There are Guards who protect new players and enforce contraband. Swords and potions are illegal so if a Guard catches you with them they will fight you. You can even get sent to solitary for bad conduct.
Once you hit top rank you can prestige for special rewards. There are quests for extra cash or special items plus custom fishing. You can rent a cell or a plot to store stuff build and run your own shop.
There is also a bounty system if you want someone hunted and an auction house for trading. Parkour challenges are spread around the prison and there are special custom plants that are illegal so you can grow them for profit if you do not get caught.
