Ancient Echoes is a Java 1.21.11 Fabric survival server where people actually talk and play together. It feels friendly and chill and you can usually find someone hanging out in voice chat.
The server runs on a simple diamond economy so trading stays easy. There are big community builds going on too like a server wide gothic End city project that helps new players meet everyone fast.
Travel is pretty smooth with nether roof travel plus a hub and highways and a portal network. Overworld roads keep getting expanded and they have been adding custom textures and models over time.
It uses a Hermitcraft style datapack setup with custom items and models like plushies hats figurines and trading cards. There are no donor ranks and no paid cosmetics so everyone stays equal.
Rules are minimal and it is trust based with no complicated claims. People just respect each others builds and keep it low drama.

I found a small laid back Minecraft server run by a few friends who want more people to play with them.

Even with the mods it is built to run well. It uses Fabric and it is meant to be easier on lower spec PCs.

This is an Unstable style SMP idea but it is meant to be unscripted so real players can actually change what happens. It is more of a roleplay kind of server so people are supposed to act things out and make stories.
It has a 100 player cap at once. You get 3 lives and there is a chance to get revived so deaths matter.
The world has weird stuff like the Farlands and even orbital strike cannons. There is no underworld though. You can play from Java or Bedrock since it is crossplay.
The main rule is no hacking. If you want to grief you technically can but they really want you to do RP stuff instead of just ruining everything for no reason.
