Rustics is a simple fun vanilla survival server on Java.
It runs on version 1.21.11 and the whole point is to just play normal survival with other people.
You can invite your friends and hang out but once it gets to around 30 players the invites get closed unless the owner makes an exception. If you have questions you can ask in the community.

I found a new public Minecraft server called Craftwards and it is made to be simple and competitive. It tries to be fun for casual players and for people who like PvP.
It has Survival mode and a BoxPvP mode so you can grind and also fight. The server is new so the early players can get ahead and help shape how the community grows.

BumCraft Multiversal is a newer modded survival server that is trying to grow into a solid community. It is a sequel thing but you do not need to know the old server to join. The owner is running most of it and wants more consistent players.
The server uses All The Mods 10 version 5.4 and it also runs Infinity Legacy II version 2.7. It started homebrewed then switched packs and they might add their own stuff later.
It is mostly PvE and it has very light RP with a bunch of roles. There are leaders like barons and town leaders and faction leaders plus warriors and other ranks so people have status.
Rules are kept in the Discord but the vibe is simple. Do not be a jerk and keep the chat clean even if it is not super strict.
Right now it is small with around 15 members. Sometimes it is busy and sometimes it is quiet. The goal is more like 20 to 30 steady players and maybe bigger later.
