Minearchy is a survival server that feels like an actual community. It runs on Java 1.21.11 and you do not need any mods to join. The server has grief protection so your builds stay safe and there are chest shops so players can trade with each other.
There is a full economy with auctions and warps and it feels pretty balanced. You can level skills with mcMMO so playing and grinding actually gives you more power over time. There is a live Dynmap so you can explore the world in your browser and plan out where you want to build.
The server has daily and weekly quests plus special events so there is usually something to do. They also have dedicated PvP and PvE zones so you can choose if you want to fight players or monsters. The server is not pay to win and everything is earned by actually playing.

This server is called Elysian 2 and it is a modded roleplay world that is still in beta. The whole idea is about realistic geopolitics where players build towns and nations and then deal with each other through roleplay.
The server uses Towny so land and nations actually matter. It uses Create so you can build crazy machines and technology and there is also VS2 plus Minecolonies and some lightweight magic and more. The world is a fully custom modded world map with custom terrain and it feels different from normal Minecraft.
There are a lot of quality of life things like fishing features and McMMO skills and other relaxed stuff so playing feels smoother and not super sweaty. They also run custom mods and plugins to keep the server stable and make everything work together.
The admins aim for realistic but still fun gameplay and they say they are non pay to win so progress comes from actually playing not buying ranks. The staff says they have no history of drama and they seem focused on a good community.

SmokeyMC is a survival towny server where players build towns and either live peacefully or go to war. It feels like a mix of chill building and battles between different groups.
There are playtime based ranks and jobs so the more you play the more you unlock. You can level up MCMMO skills and get stronger over time. There is custom terrain so the world looks different from normal Minecraft and it is really fun to explore.
