Minemist is a Java server hosted in Sydney Australia on 1.21.11. It opened on November 25th 2025 and it feels like a fresh start with a small growing community.
The server has Towny with nations and towns plus war and geopolitics. The world is bordered and there is server lore with an entity named Misty who watches everything and shows up in different forms to keep things running.
Progression is slower and more earned. Villagers do not just hand out enchanted books. Enchantments are crafted or made at an enchanting table or found as loot. Rare materials are needed and endgame gear takes time so stacked players actually worked for it.
Enchantments are political too. You pick a culture called Power Freedom or Balance and that choice affects what enchantments you can get. To access everything you have to work with other people or make deals.
There are jobs a culture system progression ranks custom enchantments and enchantment tweaks plus MCMMO. You also get chest locks an auction house player warps and player vaults.
War is meant to support politics not heavy griefing. Only nations can go to war with towns and winners can occupy or plunder for money. Raiding items from chests and breaking crops is allowed but destructive griefing is not the vibe.

Elysium is a small Java server that just reopened with a fresh start at the beginning of November. It is looking for more players and it is meant to be 18+ even though a few long time members are 16+.
The server has multiple worlds with a main Hub for traveling. You can use /spawn or /hub to get there and it has places to hang out plus an amphitheater for community gatherings and events.
Survival is on 1.21.10 with a 10k by 10k world border and mcMMO skills. It is trying to feel more vanilla since teleport commands are turned off except for a /home bed. Players use Nether roof travel instead and there is a spawn shopping district with chest shops that use diamonds.
For building there is a Plots world with 85 by 85 plots so you can build in private. You start with one plot and can earn more by moving up build ranks. I found a new Towny server called GamerHub Towny that started out for streaming and now they are trying to grow it into a bigger community.
The server feels pretty chill and they do not allow griefing or stealing. People are welcoming and ready to help and most players are in the US.
It has ingame ranking that uses ingame money. You also get Dynmap plus player warps and player shops. There is a sell only server shop too.
You can do Jobs and MCMMO. It usually has a few players on but it gets way more active when the owner streams and it can hit 12 or more online.

Waystone is a long term survival server where the world does not get wiped. It is a Hermitcraft style place where people build big things and keep them for the long run. The server has been on the same world since 2 December 2025 and they say it will not reset.
It is not about pay to win or some big economy grind. It feels more like a small group that wants to chill and actually finish projects. Land claims help keep your builds safe and there is a live map so you can see what people have made.
PvP is only if you want it since combat is consent based. If you die your stuff is kept in a gravestone for hours so it is not a total disaster. There is a skill system with ValhallaMMO that levels up as you play and there is group loot so friends do not have to fight over drops.
