Foggy Willows is a survival server for people who want real vanilla Minecraft. It runs on the normal vanilla server jar with no plugins and no datapacks.
The world is hard mode and it stays on the latest stable vanilla version. There is no fancy spawn to learn and no long stories to read first.
You do not get tp or sethome so you travel the real way. There is no world border so you can just keep going. Players are expected to handle their own social problems so it feels more like a true sandbox.
It is self hosted on a machine built for it. There are no donations. Technical Minecraft players are welcome too.

I found a free Minecraft hosting service made for small servers and friend groups. It is also good for testing plugins or just messing around without paying.
The specs they list are 3GB RAM with 2GB RAM and 1GB swap. It also has 5GB storage and 1 vCore CPU. They say it is 24 7 uptime.
