Minearchy is a long running server that feels like a real community and it is built around survival with a lot to do.
It runs on Java 1.21.11 and you do not need mods. Builds are protected and there are chest shops plus auctions and player warps. The economy is meant to stay balanced and there is a skill system with mcMMO. You can also explore with a live dynmap.
There are daily and weekly quests and special events. PvP and PvE have their own zones. The server also says it is not pay to win so you earn things by playing.

QuackedSMP is a semi vanilla SMP where you can chill and build without worrying as much. It is run by a solo dev who makes plugins and mods and wants players to help test them.
The server is on version 1.21.8 and it is mainly PvE. There is also a PvP arena world if you want to fight.
You have to download one required mod to join which is a custom duck mod made by the owner. It adds a duck mob plus new drops and recipes. The server also uses stuff like a live 3D map and anti grief detection and a chat filter.
