I found a modded SMP that is built around a zombie apocalypse and it uses a fungal spore theme with a huge ruined city vibe.
It is player driven and roleplay is welcome so people can make their own stories. Factions are starting up fast so you can join one or make your own.
The server is PvPvE but you are safe inside your own claimed land. Bigger teams can claim more territory. If you kill someone you might start a revenge war because their friends could come back for you.
There is a whitelist and you apply with a quick form. You also need Discord and a Minecraft Java account to play.
