The Pen MC is a classic prison server that feels like the 2014 era. It is barebones and grindy on purpose. There is no instant selling and you are not running around with crazy overpowered armor.
Money takes work here. You mine and you smelt your ores yourself. To sell you have to travel and deal with pvp zones so it can get sketchy.
Rank up from A through H and then reach Parole. After you finish the main ranks you can prestige and you can pick how you want to progress. You can keep doing the classic mining grind or use the custom fishing system. There is also a mob arena with waves and boss fights. There is a cookie farming bakery system too where you farm wheat and cocoa then bake cookies with custom mechanics and do long term quests and compete on leaderboards.
There are guards enforcing contraband rules and illegal crops that are high risk and high reward. You can rent cells and plots. There is an auction house bounties player shops solitary confinement and parkour challenges. The server also says anything you can buy can be earned by playing so it is focused on long term progression not instant wins.

The Pen is a classic prison server that feels like the older days. It is barebones and grindy and you start with basic tools and leather armor. You mine and you smelt your ores then you have to move through pvp zones to sell at the commissary so it actually feels risky.
There are ranks that go from A to H then Parolee then Citizen. If you reach the top you can prestige for special rewards. Once you become a Parolee you can leave the prison and build a farm to make more money.
Guards are a real thing here and they protect new players and also enforce contraband. Swords and potions are illegal so if a Guard sees you with them they will fight you. There are special custom plants that are illegal too and you can grow them in your cell for profit but you do not want to get caught.
You can rent a prison cell or a prison plot to store stuff build and even run your own shop. There are quests for extra cash or special items plus bounties you can place on enemies and an auction house for trading.
