Stormy Lagoon SMP is a survival server that works on both Java and Bedrock.
I like how easy it is to join because you can play on your computer or your phone. It just feels like a simple place where people hang out and play survival together.
From what I can see the server is focused on being an SMP where you can chill and build and talk with other players. It does not try to be super complicated. It just looks like a normal survival world with a shared community.

PurpleSMP is a small survival server that is trying to be long term and not just vanish one day. The owner made it because they were tired of putting a ton of time into worlds that just get deleted.
The server uses mcMMO so you level up skills and get stronger over time. It feels like your character actually grows the more you play.
You can claim land with GriefPrevention so your builds and chests stay safe from other players. There is also TogglePvP so you can turn fighting on or off whenever you want.
There are extra vaults that act like backpacks so you can carry more stuff on your adventures.
The server is crossplay so people on pc console and mobile can all play together. Discord is required so ranks can sync but everything else is focused on just playing and staying for the long run.

So I found this server called HyperBlocks and I have been playing on it for a couple days now. It is mainly a survival server and the layout of the world is super cool.
There are usually around eight players online when I join and everyone is really sweet and nice to talk to. It feels kind of cozy because it is not super crowded but it is never totally empty.
The owner is on a lot and gives out free stuff pretty often. They also help you if you do not understand some of the addons the server uses. So even if you are not used to extra features you do not really get lost.
Overall it just feels like a fun chill place to play survival and hang out with nice people.

Spugunke is a new semi vanilla SMP that feels really community first. It just started so everyone joining now gets to help shape the world and be there from the beginning.
The main idea is player made towns and teams. People can group up to build towns shared bases farms and big projects. Some teams can focus on pvp some on exploring and some on gathering resources. You can also play solo if you like quiet survival and still be part of the world.
The rules are relaxed but still fair. Griefing stealing and random killing are not allowed. PvP is only allowed when everyone agrees so fights are more like planned battles or friendly duels. Town or team conflicts are allowed too but still need consent so it does not turn into chaos.
Spawn is meant to be a real community area with player builds and a place where people hang out not just a random starting spot. The server feels social since people are often online together and like to chill in voice calls while playing.
The server supports full Java and Bedrock crossplay so friends on different platforms can play together. It uses only vanilla style quality of life plugins like tpa sethome spawn and protection tools so it still feels like normal survival just smoother to play.

This is a Minecraft SMP that is really focused on being safe and welcoming especially for LGBTQ plus players. Most people here are adults and you have to be 18 or older and act mature and respectful.
The server is mostly vanilla but it has some quality of life stuff like proximity chat and sitting and fast leaf decay and no mob griefing. It is a trust based world so people are expected to behave and not ruin things for others.
There is a diamond economy and a shopping district that feels like HermitCraft. Players can also use special resource worlds that get reset about once a month so the main world does not get destroyed.

MendedSMP is an economic style SMP that is starting a fresh season. The server has plugins but it still feels close to regular survival. It is made for people who like trading and building up money with other players.
You can join on Java Bedrock or Pocket Edition. That makes it really easy to play with friends no matter what they use. The world is new and the main survival world is open but the Nether and End are locked for a week so everyone starts out on the same level.
There is a very active discord where people talk every day and a bunch of players like to stream. The community feels lively and social. If you want an SMP that is pretty close to vanilla but still has an economy and lots of people on this server is a good fit.

This is a modded Minecraft server using Forge 1.20.1 on Aternos.
The owner is trying to get the server to start but it keeps getting stuck and shows an error in the logs.

This server is called PGMC.WORLD and it is actually three servers in one. You can pick how you want to play.
If you like survival you can do that with the survival server. If you just want to build stuff you can join the creative server. If you want classic no extra stuff you can play on the vanilla server.
I like that you can switch with simple commands. It makes it easy to hang out in the style you feel like that day. The community feels like it is made for different kinds of players instead of forcing one way to play.
There is not tons of extra info but it feels like a simple server that just lets you play Minecraft how you want.

Foxden is a small semi vanilla survival server that feels really chill and friendly. It runs on Java and has a new map so everyone can start fresh together.
The server stays close to normal Minecraft but has some plugins and datapacks to make things more fun. There is stuff like a map plugin and discord integration plus little tweaks and extra heads. It still feels like regular survival where you mine build and explore.
The community is pretty relaxed and the owner tries to be active and involved. People do swear sometimes and talk about older topics so it is not really aimed at little kids.
The rules are there to keep things calm. No slurs or racism and no politics or NSFW topics. No griefing and no stealing. You cannot use other peoples farms or villagers unless they say it is ok or they are clearly public. PvP only happens in minigames or when both players agree.
If you vanish for more than three months your stuff might be given to moderators so it does not sit forever but you can talk to staff if you need a break. Punishments are up to the moderators and they try to use common sense. Pranks are allowed as long as you do not actually ruin someone else’s build.
To join you have to be in the discord and get whitelisted but after that you can just hop on and play survival with a small laid back group.
