Halcyon is a Lands PvP server that feels like old school Minecraft survival but on the newest version. It was started by a postgraduate medievalist so the whole world has a strong medieval atmosphere. The server is based in Australia but there are players from Europe the Americas and Asia so it is pretty active.

The world is fully handmade with big unique biomes. There is no teleportation so traveling actually matters. Players build long roads waystations and secret underground railways to move around. The F3 menu is turned off so navigation is a real challenge. Some people sell lodestone compasses and others work on giant maps or teach how to navigate by the sun and moon.

The gameplay is designed to be harder and slower. There are a few restrictions to make progression take longer and to make meta strategies and automation less important. To succeed you focus on working with other players doing brave PvP fights trading smart and building strong cities and castles. It is more about skill and teamwork than exploits.

There is no strict server lore and no pre built adventure. You just join pick a direction punch some trees and play how you like. Over time your story connects with other players and turns into history with fights alliances and legends. The plugins and world are made to push this type of emergent storytelling and people already create books art myths and weird superstitions in game.
