Progress is tied to in game money and play time so you can rise through ranks and unlock more access and prestige. There are configurable tech components so players can make factories and try to become a big industry power.
There are lots of quality of life improvements and extra things to do like catching and selling legendary fish using crates and selling items in the server shop or your own shop. You can take jobs to get paid while playing and level them up and also level up McMMO. They also just added about 25 quests as a new test and more is planned later.

PvP is always on and there are no land claims or base protection. That means raids and betrayals can happen and your choices actually matter. It also says there are no pay to win kits or admin abuse.
I saw features like Simple Voice Chat elemental mark abilities and custom clan and war upgrades for sieges. There are player owned shops bounties and quests. You can also get droppable heads plus clan tags in chat and above player heads. There are civilian NPCs and town guard NPCs too.
