Welcome to Steinau!
Steinau is a wild land, shaped by the fierce North Sea. Its tall cliffs face the waves, while soft dunes roll in, meeting green fields and thick, old woods. The folks here, mostly German and Dutch, have lived on this land for ages, building a culture tied to the sea, trade, and strength.
History:
By 1378, Steinau became a key spot for trade in the North Sea. Busy ports welcomed traders from the Hanseatic League, bringing goods from Lübeck, Amsterdam, and more. The Steinauer people, once just fishers and fighters, grew to be skilled shipbuilders and traders. They sent out timber, salt, and wool, trading for spices, silks, and shiny metals.
Though old ways still exist, Steinau has changed into a rich and key land. It connects the Frisian, Frankish, Saxon, and Norse cultures but keeps its own strong identity—one of power, freedom, and a deep bond with the sea. But now, the lines between cultures are clearer than ever.
Current State:
After the War of the Sceptre and the Cross, Steinau is in ruins. Bandits roam, noble houses are broken, and unity is a memory. It is now up to new settlers to bring back peace and order, or fall into chaos and greed.
