Kronos SMP is a full Earth server on a 1 to 500 scale. The map is the whole world and the continents are super big and the oceans actually matter. Everyone starts fresh in a new world so there are no old empires or stacked nations already winning.
You pick a real place on the map and you claim it and then you defend it. Other players can try to take it from you so the borders on the map really change. You can start as a small group like a faction and grow into a nation.
The server is all about geopolitics and not just grinding. People make alliances they betray each other and they plan wars. There is a player run economy where power comes from land and people and not from paid kits. The wars are real with real borders so nothing is just cosmetic.
If you like planning more than mining all day or you want maps with history and drama that actually affect the world this is the kind of server for you. If you just want a chill SMP this is probably not it because once the map opens it is every man for himself.
The server runs Java Edition on version 1.20.1 and it says it has a super powerful host so it can handle big player counts without lag. The admins say there is no pay to win and they do not play favorites.
