This is a very early alpha server set in a late medieval world where factions fight and players build their own way of living.
You can go all in on faction war and PvP or you can grind RPG and MMO style progression. You can also play more solo as a trader gatherer craftsman or contractor and still matter because the economy and war connect together.
There is a main market hub called Osthaven where players spawn and trade. Out in the wild players can set up temporary wilderness camps that are protected so travel and hunting feels safer.
The server has custom crops plus custom weapons and armor with special effects. There is custom furniture a mixed currency economy stronger custom mobs and boss mobs that push you to team up. Trading is safer too because it uses a secure MMO style trade window system.
They want testers who will break stuff on purpose find bugs and balance problems and give honest feedback to help shape the server early on.

I found a semi vanilla SMP that has been running for months and it resets yearly so the world stays fresh.
It is inspired by Hermitcraft so the vibe is chill and they do not allow griefing or killing. People are meant to build and trade and just play together.
There is an optional custom texture pack with cosmetic items like shop permits plus hats and weapons that do not change gameplay. They also use Hermit style datapacks like single player sleep player heads and armor statues.
Teleporting is kept simple since only /spawn is allowed in the overworld so players end up making roads and highways. Chat is linked with Discord for easier talking and CoreProtect is there to help protect builds.
They run events pretty often and you can earn event coins to buy cosmetic stuff. There is also a small staff team focused on keeping things peaceful.

DyoCraft is a survival server where you play with AI powered bots and real players at the same time. The bots are not just basic NPCs. They can mine craft explore fight and also talk to you. They remember who you are and they react to what is happening around them.
There is also Factions PvP so groups can fight and compete. The economy is player driven and uses ChestShop. If you like extra stuff there are minigames too like Hunger Games Parkour and Smash.

The Perch is a Java SMP that is built to feel like a real Minecraft home and it does not do resets. The whole point is to keep things friendly and chill with no toxicity or drama.
It is still survival at the core and the server tries hard to not feel bloated. A lot of features can be toggled off if you do not like them. They also care a lot about farms and redstone working like the base game.

Aegea is a Spigot SMP that keeps things mostly vanilla but adds a few plugins to make survival feel smoother. It has a simple economy and ranks so you can play normally and still feel like you are moving up.
Players use commands like sethome and back and also tpa and tpahere to meet up. You can use rtp to get out into the wild. There is a new map right now too.
The economy is based around selling items and trading. You can make trade signs to sell stuff for your own price. You can also use sell and sell hand to earn money.
Ranks are earned by playtime milestones. You start as Nomad then move to Peasant and later ranks like Artisan Knight and Noble. Every month there is an election for Premier and the winner holds it for one month.
Players can join teams that share a name and a home and warps. The rules are clear with no griefing no stealing and no PvP without consent. No spam no hacks no lag machines and no toxic or NSFW stuff.

The Pen MC is a classic prison server that is trying to feel like the 2014 era. It is barebones and grindy and it does not hand you overpowered armor. You mine and you smelt ores yourself and you have to walk through pvp zones to sell like the old days.
After you rank up you can prestige and you are not stuck doing only one thing. You can keep grinding the classic mining path or go into a custom fishing system to make money. There is also a mob arena where you fight waves and bosses for rewards and money and shards.
If you want a long grind there is a bakery system where you farm wheat and cocoa then bake cookies with custom mechanics. You can do long term cookie quests and try to compete on leaderboards and turn cookies into higher tier rewards.
It also has guards that enforce contraband rules and illegal crops that are high risk and high reward. You can rent cells and plots and use auction house and bounties and player shops. There is solitary confinement and parkour too. The server says anything you can buy can also be earned in game so it is not focused on pay to win.
