Halcyon is a Lands PvP server that tries to feel like a real medieval world while still being on the latest vanilla Minecraft version 1.21.11. It was started by a postgraduate medievalist and it is based in Australia. People also play from Europe the Americas and Asia and it often has around 10 to 30 players online.
The world is handmade and the server adds a few restrictions so survival feels harder and slower. Night cannot be skipped and healing is slow and only works in certain conditions. The goal is to make meta strategies and heavy automation matter less and to make creativity cooperation and special roles matter more.
There is no teleportation so travel is a big deal. Players end up making roads waystations and secret railways to get around. Crops and saplings are limited to certain biomes so trading becomes important and places can feel different from each other.
