The server is open on Java versions from 1.7.2 up to 1.21.10 but they say 1.21.10 works best. The world border goes out to 2 million blocks so there is a lot of space to explore and hide.
There are no map resets and no teleporting at all. There is also no pay to win. Griefing is allowed and PvP is allowed so you always have to watch your back. The only special command you can use is spawn so you can get back to other players if you went really far out.
They keep it almost fully vanilla but with a few changes. You can go on the nether roof. Phantoms are removed so nights are a bit less annoying. Only half of the players online are needed to skip the night which makes sleeping easier.
There are still some rules. You cannot use exploits or make lag machines or dupes. You also cannot spam chat or use harassment or racial slurs. Besides that players are mostly free to do what they want in this world.

This server is a pure vanilla survival world with no plugins and no TPA. There are no staff running around with special powers and no admins changing the story. The story is made by the players.
PvP is allowed and raiding is allowed so you always have to watch your back. You can form teams and make allies or you can become enemies and take revenge. Some people will build and chill and others will hunt for bases.

This server is just straight up survival with chaos. It is vanilla and the world is super old and will never be reset so everything you do stays forever.
Griefing is allowed and PvP is always on so you really can not trust anyone. There are no teleports like /RTP or /TPA so you have to walk everywhere and explore the world the normal way.

This is a really old school vanilla survival server that has been around since April 1st 2019. The main world has never been reset so everything players build and do stays and the world has a long history to explore.
The gameplay is straight up survival with no land claims and no teleport commands like tpa or home. There is no currency stuff and no factions plugins that change the normal game. PvP is allowed and griefing is also allowed so you have to be careful who you trust and where you build.
The server runs stable and they try to optimize performance without changing how Minecraft normally feels. There is an anticheat but it is meant to stay out of the way and just stop obvious exploits so legit players can play fair.

Halcyon is a Lands PvP server that feels like an old school survival world. It is run by a postgraduate medievalist who really cares about the medieval theme. The server uses a handmade custom world and tries to stay very close to normal vanilla Minecraft while still being on version 1.21.10.
The gameplay is harder on purpose. Progress is slower and it is harder to use meta tricks. You are pushed to be creative and to work with other players. Big wins come from doing brave fights making smart trades and building strong cities and castles. It is more about people and teamwork than about big farms and exploits.
Travel is a huge part of the game. There is no teleporting at all and the biomes are large and different. Players build long roads waystations and secret underground railways to get around. F3 was turned off so you cannot just read your coordinates. Some people sell lodestone compasses and others make big maps or learn to navigate by the sun and the moon.
The server does not force you to follow strict lore. There is no pre built story you have to play. You just join pick a direction punch some trees and your story grows as you meet other players.
