This is a server for people who are tired of boring worlds that die in a week. It is made so you can play how you want without a ton of rules or staff yelling at you.
If you want to chill you can just build farm and vibe at your own speed. No one will bother you if you just want to relax and do your own thing.
If you like to sweat you can focus on pvp start fights or play like it is factions. Both playstyles are welcome and the server does not pick one side over the other.
There is no fake grind added just to waste your time and there is no cozy roleplay stuff. The rules are simple because the owner expects people to act like adults without a giant rule book.
The whole point is to make a long term server that actually lasts. Different styles of players can stay on the same world without ruining it for each other. Season 1 is starting soon and it is whitelist based so the player quality stays good from the start.

I found this server called EternalSMP and it is a simple survival world that feels like normal Minecraft. It is vanilla style so there are no crazy plugins or roleplay stuff.
The main difference is the world terrain looks better and there are more biomes. Exploring is a big part of it and the world feels fun to run around in.
You can make a team with friends build a base and trade with other players. People can fight and even have wars if they want. You are not allowed to grief bases but you are allowed to steal loot so you still have to protect your stuff.
The owner wants it to stay small like around 15 to 20 players. They just want some people who will play often and see if it can turn into a long term SMP. It feels like a chill place if you like survival and a bit of PvP without scripts or roleplay.

I found this server called Team Extreme and it is all about factions and pvp and not an smp at all.
You join and pick a side and focus on fighting and building up your base. The whole thing is about progression and grinding and getting stronger so you can win more fights.
There are multiple open worlds so you can mine and explore and keep moving around. It feels different from the usual smp servers because it is made to be a clean factions server with its own ideas and not just some copy paste server.
The server is on version 1.20.1 so it uses newer stuff from the game.

Kronos SMP is a full Earth server where the map is scaled to 1 to 500 so the continents are actually huge and oceans really matter. Everyone starts in a completely fresh world so there are no old nations or ruined bases and no stacked empires waiting for you.
You pick a real location then you claim it and defend it or try to take someone else’s land. The whole server is about nations and geopolitics more than grinding. Small factions can grow into full countries and players use diplomacy alliances wars and backstabbing to change the borders.
The economy is run by players so power comes from the land you hold and the people who follow you instead of kits. When wars happen territory really changes hands so nothing is just cosmetic. Admins say they do not play favorites and there is no pay to win.
This server is for people who like planning and strategy and big maps with history and drama that actually affects the world. It is not really a chill SMP. The server runs on Java Edition 1.20.1 and is hosted on strong hardware to support large player counts without lag.
Once the map opens it is every man for himself.
