I found a Fabric server on 1.19.2 that is trying to keep things simple and friendly. It is an SMP with a lightweight modpack and they keep the mod list small on purpose.
The big mods you will notice are Origins plus some extra building blocks from Chisel and food stuff like Farmer's Delight. There is also a voice chat mod so people can talk while playing.
There are no claims here so you are expected to be chill. The server uses a whitelist to help keep things in order and make the community feel safe. All are welcome.

feather64 is a raiding survival server that has been running since 2011 and it has very little moderation. you can raid and grief and nobody can claim land to protect builds so you have to be smart about where you live.
it is hard difficulty and it runs on version 1.21.10 with purpur. the world is default vanilla generation and you can play how you want like explore farm build automate enchant and fight.
lapis is used as money and there are basic teleports like sethome home warp spawn and tpa if the other player accepts. the end gets reset every month on the 1st so it is a bad place to base.
the rules are mostly about not cheating. no hacks macros or extra mods outside the permitted list and no dupes except a few allowed ones like tnt and rails. the community is mostly north america and some people are friendly but you might run into toxic players so ignore exists if you need it.

AnarchySMP is a newer anarchy survival server that has been around for about 7 months and it is all about pure chaos.
PvP is on and there are basically no rules so you can team up or betray people or wipe bases and grief anything you find. The world is not going to reset so long term bases and long grudges both matter.
It stays close to vanilla survival but it also has some extra stuff like TPA and homes. TPA cannot be used in the spawn area and both TPA and homes have cooldowns. Players start with up to 3 homes and ranks can add more.
There is no anti cheat so hacked clients are allowed. The server also runs on a new dedicated machine made to handle lots of players. They do regular events with prizes and even PayPal rewards and VIP and they say there are no pay to win items since ranks are cosmetics and quality of life.

I found a survival server that started as a friend group thing during COVID and it kept growing into a welcoming community.
It is open to join with no whitelist and it runs on version 1.21.11. It is on Hard difficulty and KeepInv is off so dying actually matters.
There are no land claims so you have to play fair. The server is strict about no griefing and no hacking.
Trading is based on raw gold and players make shops. It stays pretty simple with a few quality of life things like invisible item frames and chest locking. You also get /sethome and /spawn.
It is friendly to technical players and TNT duping is allowed. Bedrock breaking is also enabled. If you want a starter kit you can ask in chat.

It is semi anarchy with very few rules and there are no land claims. That means alliances trading raids and rivalries come from players and not from a bunch of plugins doing it for you.
Hacked clients and unfair mods are not allowed. Griefing close to spawn is not allowed within 1k and it gets handled by active moderation instead of claim systems.

I found Aeon Network and it is a cracked server that is trying to stay fair and not pay to win.
It has three different game modes so you can bounce around depending on what you feel like.
Pitfall is the main one and it is based on the Hypixel Pit idea with 1.8 pvp. It has a custom perk points system and a rebirth progression thing so you keep grinding.
Survival runs on 1.20 with custom terrain and lucky blocks. There is no shop and no land claiming so griefing is allowed. The world border is 100k.
Realms is new and it is also 1.8. You can create your own world and change it how you want then browse other peoples worlds in the Realm Browser. You can also use DomreiScript to push your realm further.

Cozy MC is a survival server that is meant to last. It is not built around constant resets. The world keeps growing over time so your builds stay and your progress does not get wiped.
It runs hard mode survival with no keep inventory. If you die you can get your death coordinates and people are quick to help.
The server has no land claims and no locked chests. That means players end up meeting each other more and trading and building together. It feels more like a shared world instead of just singleplayer with chat.
